    • When a formed product having undergone roll forming and welding is bent in the shape of a door sash, the formed product may distort and/or deform. Such distortion and/or deformation is reduced to a sufficient degree. A door sash is formed by bending an elongated metal plate in a widthwise direction such that portions thereof are superimposed, which are welded together for unification. The door sash has a joint portion extending in a longitudinal direction and having exposed surfaces extending continuously in the widthwise direction, a pocket portion extending continuously from one widthwise end of the joint portion and being to be located on the inner side of a vehicle, and a design portion extending continuously from the other widthwise end of the joint portion and being to be located on the outer side of the vehicle. The door sash is bent in the longitudinal direction, and has two parallel welding marks formed on each of the exposed surfaces of the joint portion and extending in the longitudinal direction.

    • A process is provided for seam welding advanced high strength steel sheets together. Respective end portions of first and second advanced high strength steel sheets are placed in overlapping contact with one another, and subjected to first and second weld passes. In the first weld pass, a seam welder including weld electrodes operate at a first-pass applied current and a first-pass pressure and are moved relative to the overlapping end portions at a first-pass carriage speed to establish a weld seam containing a weld nugget with a martensite phase. In the second weld pass, the weld electrodes operate at a second-pass applied current and a second-pass pressure and move relative to the weld seam at a second-pass carriage speed selected to fuse microcracks, lap openings, and porosity in the seam, relieve the residual stress in the joint, and temper the martensite phase of the weld nugget, and thereby form a weld joint.

    • A butt welding apparatus and a butt welding method where end faces of at least one plate member to be welded are butted to each other to form a butt portion, and butt welding can be performed on respective plate members which have various thickness sizes on both side portions of the butt portion with electric resistance heat by a pair of electrode members which are common to the respective plate members. At least one electrode member (1) is provided on an outer face thereof with a convex portion (1A) which gradually retreats from one plate member (31) of two plate members (31, 32) as it extends from an intermediate portion, in a thickness direction, of the one electrode member (1) along the one plate member (31). Butt welding of the two plate members (31, 32) is performed by the position of the butting portion (71) of these plate members (31, 32) being offset from the intermediate portions, in the thickness directions, of the electrode members (1, 2) to the convex portion (1A) by an amount (L1) corresponding to a difference in thickness between the plate members (31, 32).

    • A seam welding apparatus enables, even when metallic sheets are arranged in a line in a short distance, the welding electrodes to come into contact only with the metallic sheet to be welded, so as to provide a reliable welding of the metallic sheets to form connected portions having high strength. The roller electrode 20, which has on its outer peripheral portion the conical electrode surface 21, is supported by the central axis inclined relative to the surface of the metallic sheet 50 to be welded, and there is provided the stationary electrode 30 in which the portion including the flat electrode surface 31 has the smaller thickness. The electrode surface 21 of the roller electrode 20 is brought into contact with the surface of one of the metallic sheets 50 to be welded, while bringing the electrode surface 31 of the stationary electrode 30 into contact with the surface of the other metallic sheet 50. It is possible to prevent interference of the roller electrode 20 and the stationary electrode 30 with the metallic sheet 50, which is not currently subjected to the welding, and to hold firmly the metallic sheet 50 to be welded by the roller electrode 20 and the stationary electrode 30 to perform the seam welding.

    • Disclosed are a butt welding apparatus, a butt welding method, and a product manufactured by the butt welding method. Two electrode rollers (3, 4) are disposed on both the front and back sides of a thick sheet member (1) and on both the front and back sides of a thin sheet member (2) whose end surfaces (1A, 2A) are butted. The electrode rollers (3, 4) are applied with power, melt the butt portion (6) of the sheet members (1, 2) with electric resistance heat, and joint the butt portion. Further, the electrode rollers (3, 4) have a length bridging across the sheet members (1, 2) and are composed of first portions (3A, 4A) arranged as small diameter portions on the side of the thick sheet member (1) and second portions (3B, 4B) arranged as large diameter portions on the side of the thin sheet member (2). The first portions (3A, 4A) come into contact with the thick sheet member (1) and presses it before the second portions (3B, 4B) come into contact with the thin sheet member (2). Thus, the end surface (1A) of the thick sheet member (1) swells and deforms toward the thin sheet member (2) and reliably comes into contact with the end surface (2A) of the thin sheet member (2). As a result, power is applied between the end surfaces (1A, 2A) even if the end surfaces (1A, 2A) are not finished by polishing and the like.
