    • The present invention provides a method for producing a contact member being employed in electric/electronic circuits. The method comprises a first process and a second process. The first process comprises a step 1-1 for supplying a spring base strip 1, a step 2-1 for supplying a noble metal wire 2, a seam welding step 3-1 for welding and combining the metal wire 2 with the spring base strip after the spring base strip 1 and the noble metal wire 2 held together; and a step 4-1 for winding a welded and combined product. The second process comprises a step 5-1 for punching the welded and combined product. The seam welding step 3-1 comprises a step 6-1 for setting welding conditions and a step 7-1 for circulating chilled water in a closed channel. A testing step 8-1 comprises a sub-step 8-1a for determining a preciseness of a welded portion and a sub-step 81b for determining a welded strength, is performed between the seam welding step 3-1 and the winding step 4-1.

    • To weld a workpiece rounded from plane metal sheet on a seam welding machine, the workpiece is introduced into a preform (7) whose internal shape is approximately the same as the workpiece. Stops (11, 12, 14) are used to fix the workpiece in place in the preform, and the workpiece is then moved together with the preform (7) towards the welding rollers and welded. To this end the preform (7) is arranged on a platform (6) which in its turn is arranged on a movable carriage (3) in the welding machine (1). Welding with the preform makes it possible to weld together any desired sheet metal workpieces, including those which are not uniformly rounded because, for example, they are formed from blanks incorporating recesses.

    • A compact resistance seam welding machine wherein the upper electrode roller (14) is provided on a pivotally mounted arm (12) instead of on a pendulum roller head. The lower electrode roller (16), which is disposed below the upper electrode roller (14), is provided on a rigid lower arm (8) as usual. The pivotal mounting (10) of the arm (12) includes a stack of copper foils (102) on the side adjacent to the lower arm (8) and of a steel strip (101) on the side remote from the lower arm (8). The steel strip (101) and the copper foils (102) are each clamped, on the one side to the machine frame (4) and on the other side to the opposite end of the arm (12). The arm (12) is therefore pivotally mounted on the principle of a parallelogram linkage, while the pivotal mounting (10) serves for the transmission of welding current to the upper electrode roller (14) at the same time. The pivotal mounting ( 10) only permits the upper electrode roller (14) a vertical movement up and down.
