    • A device for chip-producing machining of work pieces in the form of pipes and rods, using the whirling method, has a whirling unit that has a housing, on which an accommodation for a whirling tool with teeth on the inside is mounted so as to rotate, and connected with an electromagnetic rotational direct drive. The drive has a ring-shaped stator attached to the housing and having an essentially C-shaped cross-section, and a rotor configured in the form of a ring-shaped hollow shaft having a T-shaped cross-section and provided with permanent magnets. The rotor is connected with the accommodation and is mounted on the outside of the C-shaped cross-section of the stator on its free shanks on both sides of the circumferential gap. The stator has a winding for generation of an electromagnetic field disposed between the free shanks and the closed rear wall of the C-shaped cross-section of the stator.

    • A versatile saw that can be used as a high-branch-pruning saw, etc., employing an annular internal toothed saw disk having internal teeth on its internal circumference. Each of a pair of openable holders support the periphery of an annular two-piece internal toothed saw disk and maintain the internal toothed saw disk in an annular form with the holders closed. An object is cut by the internal teeth by rotating the internal toothed saw disk maintained in an annular shape while being held by the holders along its periphery. The rotating internal toothed saw disk is capable of stopping at a prescribed position of the holder. Split internal toothed saw disks are held by the holders which are openable. The holders are opened to facilitate the placing of the object inside the internal toothed saw disk. In order to introduce the object inside the internal toothed saw disk, one part of the annular internal toothed saw disk can incorporate a cut section so that the saw disk can be opened at this cut section.

    • An apparatus for cutting a plurality of selected lengths from a rod-like workpiece. A plurality of annular saws or mills have cutting teeth formed on the inner annuli which have diameters greater than the diameter of the workpiece. The workpiece is passed through the annuli such that the distance between one saw and the end of the workpiece defines one selected length while the distances between each pair of adjacent saws define the other selected lengths. The saws and the workpiece are relatively rotated in opposite directions, while concurrently the saws are moved transversely to bring the teeth of the saws into cutting engagement with the workpiece. If the apparatus comprises two annular saws, the annular saws are moved in opposite transverse directions so that the saws are concurrently engaging opposite sides of the workpiece. The transverse movements of the saws are controlled such that the saw nearest the end of the workpiece completes its cut first.
