    • A compact chain cutting apparatus for automatically shearing and opening a chain link of a selected thickness in one operation is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing, a first shearing member, a second shearing member, and an electro-hydraulic actuator system. The first shearing member is mounted to the housing. The second shearing member is pivotally mounted to the housing for movement to exert, in cooperation with the first shearing member, shearing and bending forces upon the chain link. The electro-hydraulic actuator system cooperates with the second shearing member to move automatically the second shearing member to shear and to bend the chain link, thereby defining an opening in the chain link greater than the thickness of the link.

    • A cable cutter for cutting a cable by using an explosive event is provided. The cable cutter includes a main body and an initiator assembly connected to the main body. The main cutter includes a cutterjaw and a receptacle having an opening accommodating a cable, a longitudinal bore formed in the housing and connected to the receptacle and having an inner opening and an outer opening, a cutter blade having a cutting edge facing the inner opening and a base facing the outer opening, being inserted into the bore of the receptacle, and slidably moving toward the cutter jaw within the bore of the receptacle to cut a cable disposed within the receptacle and between the cutter jaw and the cutting edge of the cutter blade. The initiator assembly includes a coupler, a passageway formed within the coupler, a cap covering having a hole connected to the coupler, and an explosive material and detonator are inserted through the hole in the cap into the passageway. A cone shaped surface is extended from a circumferential inner surface of one end of the passageway to an opening of the coupler connected to the main body.

    • The invention relates to a device for cutting material such as metal rod. The device comprises a diaphragm type air brake chamber having a wedge mounted to an output shaft of the chamber, a cutting assembly mounted to the air brake chamber, the assembly comprising two pivotally mounted cutting members with opposed blades with the members biased to maintain an opening between the blades, and a handle for gripping the device rearwardly of the cutting assembly. The device is configured so that on actuation of the air brake chamber, the wedge is driven between ends of the cutting members distal the blades to cause the blades to pivot towards each other.
