摘要： Disclosed herein is a unique torsional cutting apparatus. Two plates, referred to as a stationary and rotating plate member, are positioned and held in place next to each other using any convention means such as spring tensioned bolts. There is a zero gap between the two plate members. A hole in the general shape of the object to be cut is fashioned through the two plate members so that the object to be cut can be placed into and through the hole. The hole is tapered towards the center of the rotary torsion cutting apparatus thereby allowing ease of insertion, a more precise cut, and the elimination of burring.

摘要： A shearing device for wire rope or cables. The device incorporates a shear block system having a first cylindrical block adapted for mainly engaging an eccentric recess formed in a housing. Both the housing and the block are constructed with apertures therethrough adapted for receiving the cable or wire rope therein. Eccentric misalignment of the apertures is provided by relative rotation between the housing and the block to therein provide the shearing action. In this manner, a post-tension cable of the type utilized in concrete construction or the like, can be terminated within a recessed region with efficiency and dimensional control.

摘要： A method of shearing a workpiece, for example a metal billet or bar, and apparatus for carrying out that method. Before being subjected to linear shear, the billet is first subjected to substantial torque about an axis perpendicular to the plane of shear. The billet is held by two pivoting arms, the predominant torque of the first stage of the method is achieved by allowing the pivot points of the arms to slide as the arms turn, and the predominant shear of the second stage is then achieved by arresting that sliding movement by stops. The parts of the arms which grip the workpiece may bear against a fixed surface during the whole operation, so holding the axis of the workpiece to a constant location.

摘要： An articulation joint manufacturing process comprises cutting an elongated tube to form a multiplicity of links wherein adjacent links are connected by a bridge. The method comprises forming a fracturable portion on each bridge and connecting a multiplicity of springs to adjacentts links to form a workpiece. The method further comprises applying a torsional force to the workpiece about its longitudinal axis to fracture each bridge to form an articulation joint comprising a series of links wherein adjacent links are connected by at least one spring. Certain steps are formed by a laser. In one method, the springs are positioned on a mandrel and the springs are welded to the workpiece. The fracturable portion on the bridges may be produced by forming an indentation which may be a score, a perforation, an elongated indentation or an oval shaped indentation.

摘要： A rotary torsion cutting apparatus is provided for cutting an article. The cutting apparatus includes a first plate member having a front face, a back face and a side face. The first plate member further includes a central axis and a first opening extending from the front face to the back face of the first plate member. The first opening is shaped and dimensioned for receiving an article to be cut by the rotary torsion cutting apparatus. The cutting apparatus also includes a second plate member having a front face, a back face and a side face. The second plate member further includes a central axis aligned with the central axis of the first plate member and a second opening extending from the front face to the back face of the second plate member. The second opening is shaped and dimensioned for receiving an article to be cut by the rotary torsion cutting apparatus. In addition, the second plate member is rotationally supported upon the first plate member for rotation relative thereto about a complete revolution. The first opening and the second opening are of substantially the same shape and are aligned for simultaneous positioning of an article within both the first opening and the second opening. Relative movement between the first plate member and the second plate member causes a torsion cutting of an article positioned within the first opening and the second opening.
