    • A cutting tool has a main body provided with a pocket part and a cutting insert. The pocket part includes at least one side wall and bottom surface which includes a pocket part base surface, a first pocket part inclined surface connected to an inner end of the base surface on an inside of the main body, and a second pocket part inclined surface connected to an outer end of the base surface on an outside of the main body. The cutting insert has an upper surface, a lower surface and side surfaces connecting the upper surface and the lower surface. The lower surface includes an insert base surface, first and second inclined surfaces inclined upwardly from first and second sides of the base surface, respectively. The cutting insert is seated in the pocket part such that the second inclined surface abuts the second pocket part inclined surface.

    • A high-speed milling cutter has a tool parent body and one or more plate-shaped cutting inserts with a convex, approximately arc-shaped cutting edge. The insert(s) is/are fastened in an insert seat of the tool parent body. Mating elements with mutual contact surfaces for absorbing the centrifugal forces occurring during use are provided in each case between insert seat and cutting insert. The contact surface of the first mating element is designed in the shape of a circular arc, approximately concentrically to the cutting edge. The contact surface of the second mating element is likewise designed in the shape of a circular arc, approximately concentrically to the cutting edge, or consists of at least two contact zones which lie on an imaginary circular arc, approximately concentrically to the cutting edge, the contact surface or the imaginary circular arc coinciding with the contact surface of the first mating element.

    • An anti-rotation mounting mechanism is provided between an indexable insert and an insert-receiving pocket in the body of a machine tool, such as a milling cutter. The mechanism includes a plurality of curved stop surfaces uniformly disposed around the side surface of the insert, a portion of which is obliquely oriented with respect to the side surface of the insert, and at least one anti-rotation surface in the pocket of the tool body having a shape substantially complementary to that of the stop surfaces for forming an interference joint between the pocket and the insert. Both the stop surfaces and the anti-rotation surface are substantially defined by partial radius curves such that either a broad, line-type or lenticular contact between the anti-rotation surface and the obliquely oriented portion of one of the stop surfaces is achieved. The mechanism effectively prevents rotation between the insert and pocket without the formation of point-type, localized stresses which can chip or break the insert.
