    • A pretensioner (1) for a seat belt system (7) of an automobile includes a gas generator (2), a gas pipe (3), a piston (5) and a coupling mechanism (6). The gas generator is adapted to generate a high-pressure gas when a shock occurs in the automobile due to a collision, a sudden stop, etc. The gas pipe is formed to receive therein the gas generator. The gas pipe is adapted to guide the high-pressure gas released from the gas generator to the piston. The piston is adapted to be moved or displaced by the pressure of the high-pressure gas guided by the gas pipe. The coupling mechanism is connected to each of the piston and a buckle (8) of the seat belt system (7). The coupling mechanism is adapted to wind up or pull a seat belt (9) in accordance with the movement of the piston to increase a restraining force of the seat belt.

    • A manually operable tube flaring tool for providing a partial flare in the end of a deformable tube. The tool includes a flaring head defining an annular flaring surface and a cylindrical pilot portion projecting axially from the flaring surface to be received in the tube end for guiding the flaring surface axially against the distal end of the tube during the flaring operation. The tool further includes a support for fixedly positioning the tube end coaxially adjacent the flaring surface of the flaring head. The support defines an improved recess configuration providing a controlled buckling of the tube end by the forceful engagement therewith of the flaring surface wherein the buckled tube end defines preselected frustoconical inner and outer portions. The support may further define a conventional single flare recess opposite the partial flare recess whereby the tube may be used selectively to provide either of the partial or single flare flaring operations. The tube clamp may be defined by one leg of the U-shaped body and a cooperating clamp block movably carried by the body and adjustably positioned by a threaded member threaded through the other leg of the body.

    • A tool for flaring and doubling over the end of thermoplastic pipe and tubes wherein the tool includes a pair of superposed clamping bars, one being mounted to a stationary fixture and the other bar being hingedly connected at one end thereto. The hinged bar clamp is held in a clamped fixed position by a releasable toggle clamp device which is secured to the fixed bar clamp. Each bar is provided with a plurality of corresponding arcuate non-semicircular notches of various sizes to accommodate each particular sized pipe. A mandrel and flaring head which can be power driven, is also provided for flaring and doubling over the free end of the plastic tube or pipe when positioned within the clamping tool.

    • The specification discloses an apparatus and process for beading the projecting ends of heat exchange tubes to a header or tube sheet of a water heater. The apparatus comprises an expandable mandrel having outwardly movable jaws supported around the forward end of a spindle. The mandrel is adapted to be inserted into a tube and to be expanded outward to tightly grip the inside of the tube near the header and to expand the tube against the header. An annular beading head having an annular beading groove is supported around the spindle rearward of the jaws and is adapted to be moved forward to engage the groove with the projecting end of the tube to force the end of the tube radially outward and against the side of the header.
