    • A spa jet for delivering water from an upstream source of water under pressure to the interior of a spa, the spa jet having a housing with an inlet tube communicating with the source of water and a chamber wall defining a generally cup shaped chamber. A retaining ring is connected to and inside of the chamber wall. A form having an annular upstream portion is fixed against axial movement between the chamber wall the retaining ring. The form has a downstream portion extending from the annular portion in the form of a shaft aligned with the axis. The spa jet also has a rotor with a generally cylindrical body concentric with the axis, the body having a bearing surface extending around the shaft which supports the body for rotating. At least one nozzle passage extends through the rotor which collects water from the inlet tube and directs the water as a water jet into the spa at an angle sufficient to impart a turning moment to the rotor about the axis. A keeper is fixedly secured to a free end of the shaft overlapping portions of at least one of the body and the bearing, the keeper retaining the body on the shaft.

    • An irrigator (A) for distributing a constant depth of fluid as the irrigator (A) moves over an area. The irrigator (A) has a moveable nozzle boom arm (9), a winch (15) with cable (15a) and a governor (B). The governor (B) is connected to the moveable nozzle boom arm (9) and to the winch (15). In use the governor (B) controls the speed of winch (15) and the speed and movement of the moveable nozzle boom arm 9, so that application depth of liquid being applied by the irrigator (A) can be kept substantially constant.

    • A rotating joint for a sprinkler that provides a substantially constant rate of rotation regardless of water pressure and flow rate fluctuations. The joint includes a stationary lower portion that is in fluid communication with a pipe that delivers pressurized water to the sprinkler, and a moveable upper portion rotatably connected to the stationary lower portion about a substantially vertical axis. The moveable upper portion rotates in response to tangential forces that are applied by an impulse arm carried on a barrel from which pressurized water is discharged. The rate of rotation of the moveable upper portion is controlled by a braking mechanism that includes a pair of disks rigidly attached to the stationary lower portion and a pair of breaking elements mounted on the moveable upper portion. The pair of disks are located between and are in frictional engagement with the pair of braking elements with the pair of disks being secured against rotational and axial displacement with respect to the stationary lower portion. Variations in water pressure axially displace the moveable upper portion with respect to the stationary lower portion so that a braking element exerts a frictional force on a disk that is proportional to the water pressure to result in a self-adjusting braking force.

    • A sprinkler having a nozzle and a diffuser therefor which cooperate to provide a variable distribution of water from the sprinkler head throughout the entire circumference thereof which accomplishes almost complete uniformity of distribution of the water within the maximum and minimum limits of projection of the eater stream from the head. The nozzle is continuously driven in a circular direction and intermittently rotates simultaneously with a diffuser plate, the diffuser having diffuser vanes formed thereon which are intermittently interposed into the water stream from the nozzle to break up the pattern and the distribution thereof. The nozzle and diffuser plate travel together for one complete revolution, in fixed relationship to one another. Upon completion of each revolution, the nozzle disengages itself momentarily from the diffuser plate, and indexes itself relative to the diffuser plate a predetermined incremental distance, whereupon it re-engages and makes another complete revolution, so that the nozzle is constantly changing its relationship with respect to the diffuser plate, and the water dispersing or diffusing vanes provided thereon. The relative indexing of the nozzle and the diffuser plate is accomplished by a gear formed on the nozzle, and a pinion carried by the diffuser plate, which pinion engages the gear on the nozzle, and also engages each complete revolution, a stationary pin which is the equivalent of one tooth of an internal gear. When the pinion engages the pin, it causes the aforementioned disengagement of the diffuser and nozzle and indexing of the nozzle to the next diffuser station or vane.
