    • A movable wood crushing machine according to the present invention comprises a vehicle body 2 with a travel device provided therein; a rotary crushing device 6 provided at an edge of this vehicle body in the traveling direction for crushing the wood into wood chips; a tab-type feeder 7 provided on this rotary crushing device with an charging opening for charging wood to be crushed formed in an upper section thereof; a conveyer 4 extending from a position under the rotary crushing device 6 in the traveling direction of the vehicle body toward the other edge section of the vehicle body in the traveling direction for transferring and discharging wood chips crushed by the rotary crushing device 6 to the outside; and a drive unit 5 provided between the rotary crushing device 6 and the conveyer 4 for driving drive sources for the travel device 3, the rotary crushing device 6, the tab-type feeder 7, and the conveyer 4.

    • An apparatus for assisting in loading material to be ground into a rotatable drum assembly and protecting the rotating means of the assembly. A stationary drum assembly having a frustoconical stationary sidewall is configured to aid in feeding material into the rotatable drum space attached to a frame suspended over the rotating drum space. The stationary sidewall has a smaller diameter end adjacent to the rotatable drum assembly, and a large diameter end positioned atop the rotatable drum. Whereby when material is loaded into the large diameter end of the frustoconical stationary sidewall, the material passes through the stationary sidewall into a drum space where material is contacted by the grinding means and ground into pieces.

    • A rotor (1) for use in a comminuting apparatus (100) is described and claimed. The rotor (1) includes a hub (2) rotatable about a first axis (A) and one or more disc members (4) for comminuting material. The disc members (4) are secured to the hub (2) and rotatable about a second axis (B), removed from the first axis (A). Drive means is provided to simultaneously rotate the hub (2) disc members (4) about their respective axes. Guides (11) may be provided below the disc members (4) to remove comminuted material after it has passed through a screen (10). The screen (10) may include base portion (10A) and side wall portion C (10B), the side wall portion (10B) extending up to a level approximately level with the disc members (4). The guides (11) may include arms (11A) extending up beside the side wall portion (10B). A comminuting apparatus (100) including a rotor (1) is also claimed.

    • A hay chopper is used for chopping elongated stems of hay into small fragments. The hay chopper comprises two superimposed screens comprising an identical set of slots recessed thereon. When the two screens are well aligned, effective slot windows result from the superimposition of slots from each one of the screens. A chopping element is also provided within the hay chopper, this chopping element comprising sharp-edged blades emerging periodically from underneath said screens through said effective slot windows, in order to cut the hay located onto the chopping element of the hay chopper. By varying the alignment between the two screens, the effective slot windows' width can be adjusted accordingly. It is the width of these slots that will determine approximately the length of the chopped fragments of hay that is allowed to slip therethrough by gravity and/or drive force from the rotating blades.
