    • A hydropneumatic massage bath includes a bath tub having high side walls and a bottom and at least one pressurized-water line that terminates in a water jet nozzle. An air supply line opens into a chamber surrounding the water jet nozzle. Such chamber has an outlet orifice for a jet of water and pressurized air entering the interior of the bath tub structure is provided for pulsating the jet of water/air mixture that discharges into the interior of the bath tub. To achieve a pleasant and variable massaging effect, as well as to reduce the susceptibility of the system to contaminants and compressive stress, an interrupt mechanism is arranged in the air supply line upstream of the chamber to fully or partially close the air supply at a desired pulsation frequency, thereby controlling the flow of incoming air into the chamber.

    • The invention pertains to an apparatus for premixing additives and feeding them into a polymer melt stream. The apparatus has a conducting element 2, first and a second intermediate element 4a and 4b, and a pump assembly 6, wherein the polymer melt stream is guided through channels 8 and 10 of the conducting element. The second intermediate element 4a has a feed element 12 that extends into the first channel 8 to form a ring channel. The feed element 12 is surrounded by openings 14, through which a portion of the polymer melt is drawn off, so that it can be mixed with an additive inside the pump assembly 6. This mixture is then returned via the feed element 12 to the polymer melt stream. The apparatus according to the invention makes it possible to decrease the residence times of the polymer and requires very little in the way of apparatus.

    • Apparatus and method for dissolving chemical tablets for creating a variable rate of chemical dissolution in a stream of constant flow rate of untreated liquid, especially water. The apparatus includes a housing in which a container is placed. The container includes a sieve plate or perforated grid which separates the container into an upper chamber in which chemical tablets are stored and a lower mixing chamber. A collection reservoir is defined in an annular outside the container wall and inside of the housing. Several arrangements are illustrated by which a vortex of liquid is generated of controllable variable intensity in the lower or mixing chamber thereby creating uneven liquid pressure beneath the perforated grid as a function of radial distance. As a result, fluid passes aggressively through outer radial perforations or holes in the grid and which impinge on the chemical tablets stacked on the grid. The liquid circulates in the upper chamber from the outward radial position toward the center of the grid plate, while eroding the tablets, and returns to the mixing chamber. A portion of the liquid exits into the collection reservoir. Liquid communication also exits from a hole in the bottom of the lower mixing chamber, which is open to the collection reservoir. Varying the intensity of the vortex varies the rate of chemical dissolution, yet the flow rate of liquid through the apparatus is constant.

    • An in-line mixing apparatus for the substantially continuous production of size to be supplied to a glass fiber forming process. The in-line mixing apparatus comprises a plurality of stages wherein the first stage is a static mixing device in which sizing components are carefully metered into a flow of water or other carrier fluid, and blended together. A second stage, hydrolyzer, connected to the first stage, provides a chamber in which the blended water and size materials are allowed to chemically react as they move therethrough. A second static mixing device may be connected to the output of the hydrolyzer if additional components need to be added, or if additional mixing of the materials blended in the first stage and reacted in the second stage is necessary. The output of the in-line mixing device may be piped directly to the size applicators of the respective fiber producing operations.
