    • A novel reusable swab having a gelatinous elastomer swab head attached to one or both ends of a handle is disclosed. The gelatinous elastomer swab head exhibits a combination of properties including unexpectedly high elongation and tensile strength and excellent shape retention after extreme deformation under high-velocity impact and stress conditions. The gelatinous elastomer swabs of this invention are soft, flexible, and have elastic memory, characterized by a gel rigidity of from about 20 gram to about 800 gram Bloom. These and other properties are particularly essential for cleaning various surfaces, deeply recessed areas small crevices, curved surfaces, various hard-to-clean corners of a car interior, other nooks and crannies, and the like.

    • Two embodiments of a toylike aerial flight device having a simulated rocket configuration are described. The first embodiment is manually powered and the second embodiment is powered by a solid-fuel propellant cartridge having a thrust charge and a retro-fire charge. Both embodiments follow similar flight paths, namely, a substantially linear elevating launch to the crest of flight followed by a slow gyrating descent. Both embodiments have a head projecting forwardly from the body, a pair of swept-back wings symmetrically disposed relative the body, and a pair of weight segments whose position relative the center of gravity of the flight device is fairly critical. In the solid-fuel powered device, the retro-fire charge is ignited at about the crest of flight to tilt the head about a pivot hinge. This tilting action promotes gyrating flight.

    • Novel gels and articles are formed from an intimate melt blend admixture of one or more of a linear or star-shaped multiblock copolymers having two or more midblock polymer chains and high levels of a plasticizing oil.The gels can be transparent and have a novel combination of properties including unexpectedly high elongation and tensile strength and excellent shape retention after extreme deformation under high velocity impact and stress conditions. The gels of this invention are extremely soft, flexible, and have elastic memory, characterized by a gel rigidity of from about less than 2 gram to about 1,800 gram Bloom and higher. These and other properties are particularly essential for the gels to have utility as composites, toys, therapeutic hand excercising grips, electrical and electronic encapsulation, shock absorbers, acoustical isolators, components for cushions, medical, sports medical, and many other uses. The gels are characterized by a rigidity of about 350 grams to about 1,800 gram Bloom, a tear resistance of at least about 1 Kg/cm, and strands of the gel are capable of flossing at least ten cycles without completely breaking apart as tested under fully contacting surfaces under a uniform spring load of 0.9027 Kg.

    • A maple-seed simulating autorotating flyer. The flyer is provided with a spherical shock absorbing nose section and a wing section having a substantially straight leading edge, a curved tail, a spine conformed to said leading edge and tail and a curved trailing edge. The wing is constructed of a substantially planar sheet of a lightweight, semi-rigid fabric of uniform thickness. The weight of the nose, the length and width of the wing are configured so as to impart aerodynamic characteristics to the flyer such that when thrown upward, the flyer will autorotate during descent. The flyer is used in accordance with the method of the present invention, wherein the maple-seed simulating autorotator is thrown upward from a designated throwing area. A plurality of scoring targets, each having a designated point value, are randomly positioned around the throwing area. The thrower is awarded the number of points assigned to the scoring target that is hit by, or closest to, the autorotating flyer upon landing.
