摘要： A conformable body interface is fabricated using a data set representing a three-dimensional, soft tissue body surface. The conformable body interface includes a body scaffold that is divided into two or more longitudinal segments separated by axial joints. Optionally, the body scaffold is further divided into two or more circumferentially split segments separated by circumferential joints. The axial joints are circumferentially constrained by bands, tabs, or similar structures and the circumferential joints are longitudinally constrained by axial tethers or similar structures. In this way, the body interfaces can accommodate swelling and bending of the body surface.

摘要： A protective shield having a tubular shape is used for protecting a wound on a limb of an animal. The protective shield includes a first sleeve half, a second sleeve half, and a hinge connecting the first and second sleeve halves for enabling the protective shield to move between open and closed positions. A first splint overlies the inner surface of said first sleeve half, and a first splint attachment strip is secured to the inner surface of the first sleeve half and extends between upper and lower ends of the first sleeve half. The first splint attachment strip has a plurality of splint mounting positions provided thereon for enabling the first splint to be secured to the first sleeve half at different locations between the upper and lower ends of the first sleeve half. A second splint overlies the inner surface of the second sleeve half, and a second splint attachment strip is secured to the inner surface of the second sleeve half and extends between upper and lower ends of the second sleeve half. The second splint attachment strip has a plurality of splint mounting positions provided thereon for enabling the second splint to be secured to the second sleeve half at different locations between the upper and lower ends of the second sleeve half.

The disclosed traction splints may be extendable from a collapsed configuration adapted for transportation and storage towards an extended configuration adapted for applying traction to an injured patient, using telescoping members. One or more straps may be provided for securing the traction splint to the patient. One or more of such straps may include a tourniquet portion and/or may be configured to be oriented in different directions relative to the telescoping members. The disclosed traction splints may include a traction mechanism configured to utilize a mechanical advantage in applying traction to the patient's limb. Such traction mechanisms may have a traction cord path that utilizes the same hardware as an adjustment mechanism configured to allow or prevent one of the telescoping members from moving with respect to another.

The composite material is easily formable when heated to temperatures of about two hundred degrees Fahrenheit for a time of at least six to eight minutes and then is rigid at temperatures of about one hundred thirty degrees. The composite material can be sewn and formed in complex shapes when initially heated to about two hundred degrees. Closure attachments can be secured to the composite material as needed on site rather than at the manufacturing facility. The composite material can be custom fitted to a patient in situ.
