摘要： An article of manufacture for a bony prominence under casts, splints and or other devices utilized to hold the limb in a fixed position for an extended period of time. The article consists of a pressure relieving pad from a base substrate with a predetermined design formed from a gel material with an adhesive quality. In another embodiment, the article consists of a pressure relieving pad formed from a gel material base substrate combined with a fibrous substrate with a predetermined design of the pressure relieving pad. Each article includes at least one ventilation channel cut through the base substrate and/or fibrous substrate, e.g. the ventilation channel may have a single or multiple cut incision. The ventilation channel functioning to increase the padding around the base of the prominence thereby providing extended comfort and fitting of a rigid splint, cast or other fixing device.

摘要： A method of providing moisture therapy to a subject by applying a moist therapy compress against a treated body portion. The moist therapy compress includes a fluid-permeable shell, a flexible backing fastened to the shell to define an enclosure, and a hydrophilic zeolite fill granules loosely contained within the enclosure. The therapy compress is exposed to a source of moisture to cause absorption of water into the a hydrophilic zeolite, and the moisture is delivered from the hydrophilic zeolite through the fluid permeable shell to the treated body portion.

摘要： The invention provides a wound dressing or therapy compress (100) containing a fill material (108) permanently loaded with an antimicrobial silver. The dressing or compress comprises a flexible upper backing (104) and a lower shell (102) fastened to one another, and each of which comprises a synthetic fabric. The lower shell is fluid-permeable and is adapted to be placed in direct or covered contact with a wound or tissue to be treated. The backing may be either fluid permeable or non-permeable, as desired, to allow for the release or retention of moisture. The shell and backing are joined to one another to form a plurality of fill material enclosures (106) therebetween, each such fill material enclosure containing a zeolite fill material which is permanently loaded with antimicrobial silver. The presence of the silver within the fill material promotes a germ and microbial free environment approximate the shell and within the dressing or compress. So constructed, the dressing or compress may be used to cover and protect a wound while absorbing exudate, and may also provide and maintain a heated and/or a moist environment to promote the healing of wounds.

The AVPP layer has the capability of automatically changing in respective fluid permeability characteristics provided by respective subregions of the AVPP layer where the changes are in reaction to extant or changed conditions in corresponding micro-zones of the wound site. The automatic self-adjusting behaviors of the respective subregions of the AVPP layer can include providing a faster rate of vapor removal for micro-zones of the wound site that are too wet and providing a slower rate of vapor removal or essentially no vapor removal for micro-zones of the wound site that are too dry.

The bandage includes an outer surface, inner absorbent layer and one or more closure mechanisms. The outer surface includes a slit extending from an outer peripheral edge to an inner peripheral edge that forms an aperture to accommodate a medical device. The inner absorbent layer is in contact with the outer surface and at least partially spans the aperture to accommodate the medical device. The one or more closure mechanisms are used to substantially seal the slit. The bandage is positioned about the incision and secured about the medical device for absorption.
