摘要： Described are a method and a system for the production of beverages by means of a capsule (C1, C2, C3, C4) and a container (A) adapted to house the capsule during the production. The capsule comprises a reinforcement ring (102, 202, 302, 402) which comprises a side wall (103, 203, 303, 403) and a ledge (104, 204, 304, 404) protruding from the side wall. A seal is provided between at least a portion of the side wall of the reinforcement ring and at least a portion of the inner surface (17) of the side wall (5) of the container so as to avoid the leak of the beverage from the interface between the reinforcement ring and the container.

摘要： Various beverage preparation machines having a multi-chambered basket unit are shown. The basket unit can be configured to accept multiple cartridge configurations. For example, some embodiments are configured to receive a first cartridge configuration in a first chamber of the basket unit and a second configuration in a second chamber of the basket unit. In various embodiments, the basket unit can rotate to allow selective accessibility of the first and second chambers. This can facilitate loading the cartridges into the appropriate chamber, such as loading the first cartridge configuration into the first chamber and the second cartridge configuration into the second chamber.

摘要： A disposable capsule for preparing a beverage suitable for consumption from an extractable product includes a chamber for enclosing an inner space containing the extractable product and a displaceable body. The chamber includes an entrance area enabling passage of a fluid towards the inner space for interacting with the extractable product for preparing the beverage and an exit area for conducting at least a portion of the beverage away from the capsule. The displaceable body is movable with respect to the entrance area and the exit area for discontinuing the entrance area and the exit area thereby enabling the chamber to pass fluidum therethrough.

The filter basket includes a plastic frame having a bottom, a plurality of ribs, and a top rim that define a plurality of openings covered by a non-woven or woven plastic filter material. The basket filled with beverage grounds is enclosed with a film cover. The inlet probe of the brewer pierces the cover and admits a heated liquid into the beverage grounds, and creates a brewed beverage that flows through the filter material and exits an opening in a bottom portion of the cartridge.

The system comprises an exchangeable capsule, and an apparatus comprising a receptacle for holding the exchangeable capsule. The exchangeable capsule is an open capsule with an exit filter adapted to drain prepared beverage from the system into a cup. The apparatus comprises exit filter piercing means that are provided in the receptacle opposite of the exit filter of the capsule. The exit filter piercing means cooperate with the exit filter to pierce the exit filter to create at least one additional opening, wherein the exit filter, when used in a prior art apparatus that has lid piercing means to pierce a lid of a closed capsule, is not pierced by the lid piercing means and stays intact.
