摘要： Method and apparatus for the mechanical destruction of members of the genus Solenopsis, the South American Fire Ant, by the introduction of intense heat, vapor, insecticides, and/or steam directly into the colony by incorporating the use and application of specific compounds and mixtures of hydrocarbons, pyrethroids, insecticides, oxidizing agents, and/or vaporizing liquids, injected into the individual ant colonies by a variety of methods, including a pressurizing injection gun, with or without a heating attachment. The device is designed to obtain the proper penetration of the Imported Fire Ant colony in order to rapidly and totally infuse the entire chamber area, as well as the lateral foraging tunnels, with a thermal vapor (fog) containing an insecticide known to be lethal to Formicoidea (ants). Additionally, upon cooling, the vapor recondenses into a residue that has a prolonged residual killing effect for continued control purposes. An additional effect of this system is that the mere contact of the superheated vapor is lethal to those ants in the immediate vicinity of the lance so that the system is not totally dependent on insecticidal properties of the active ingredients.

摘要： The present invention provides an encasement for preventing arthropods contamination of an object or for decontaminating an object contaminated with arthropods. The encasement comprises an enclosure defining an aperture, the enclosure being formed of an arthropod impervious material. The encasement also comprises a cover formed of an arthropod impervious material and shaped to cover the aperture, the cover being attachable to the enclosure to prevent arthropods from escaping or entering the encasement. The encasement also comprises a heating source linked to the encasement for heating an interior of the encasement and a heater control device connected to the heating source for controlling the temperature within the encasement. The aperture is sized to allow use of the object upon separation of the cover from the enclosure and the enclosure and cover are sized and shaped to completely house the object upon attachment between the cover and the enclosure.

摘要： A steam apparatus to kill ants includes a pipe member, a cover member and a steam generator. The pipe member can be filled with high-temperature steam to send steam through apertures disposed at the lower end of the pipe member. The steam generator is a gas-heating boiler and movable. The steam generator generates steam to be sent to the pipe member. When in use, the bottom end of the pipe member is inserted into an ant nest in the soil. The cover member encloses the surface of the soil, such that the steam from the steam generator is poured into the ant nest to kill the fire ants completely.
