    • Fly traps that do not require toxic chemicals and that can un-intrusively be present in public areas. An example trap includes a housing to contain a solution and including opening(s) for ingress of flies, a conduit or nozzle, a pump to cause solution to flow via the conduit/nozzle and along the inner surface of the housing to capture flies, and a timer to activate the pump. Another example trap includes a gathering vessel, conduit coupled to the vessel and to be submerged in a fluid trap, a vacuum to remove air from the fluid trap, and a timing device to activate the vacuum. Another example trap includes an outer wall to contain a solution, an inner wall extending into the solution, an air pump and conduit(s) to form bubbles in the solution that rise in a space between the outer and inner walls and cascade down the inner wall.

    • The invention relates to a method for producing CO2 for attracting bloodsucking arthropods (2). In this method, at least one liquid or solid organic substance (11) is reacted in an oxidation process in a targeted manner, one portion completely and another partially, thus forming, in addition to CO2, H2O and heat, at least one further partial oxidation product (P). The invention further relates to a device (1a, 1b) for generating CO2, said device (1a, 1b) comprising a storage means (10) for at least one liquid or solid organic substance (11) and an evaporation module (14) for the liquid or solid organic substance (11). The device (1a, 1b) comprises a reactor module (16) for the controlled oxidation and partial oxidation of the at least one liquid or solid organic substance (11); a control unit (80); and means (13, 18, 21, 22, 26) for regulating the oxidation and partial oxidation process. The means (13, 18, 21, 22, 26) for regulating the oxidation and partial oxidation process can be regulated via the control unit (80), hence allowing defined reaction conditions to be set in the reactor module (16) for the targeted control of the oxidation and partial oxidation process.

    • A chamber has upper end and lower ends. A base has an annular trough receiving and supporting the lower end of the chamber. When water is within the trough, air flowing through slots in the lower end of the chamber becomes moisture laden. A fan in the chamber directs the air flow in a recirculating path of travel. A carbon dioxide tank in the chamber dispenses carbon dioxide into the recirculating path of travel of the air flow. A solenoid has an input line coupling the tank and the solenoid and an output line with an exterior extent with apertures and a foam covering constituting a reservoir. A control assembly activates and inactivates the fan and the carbon dioxide tank in a timed sequence.

    • The invention resides in an insect trap (10) comprising a housing (14) which has one or more access apertures (19) to permit entry of insects into a hollow interior (19B) of the housing (14) and a catchment tank (20) located below the one or more access apertures (19) for trapping of insects characterised in that there is provided an air diffuser (30) above one or more access apertures (19) and an air blower (37) or fan located adjacent to the air diffuser (30) for generating circulating air within the housing (14). Circulating air is then confined mainly to the housing interior (19B) and does not escape through the access apertures (19).
