摘要： An environmentally sound vegetation growth-enhancing erosion control blanket is formed from an elongated rectangular excelsior/wood wool mat. The mat is held together with adhesive and a surface pattern is embossed therein. When the finished blanket is placed atop the ground, the blanket serves to shield the earth area from wind and water erosion forces, without the presence of the plastic netting often used in the prior art. As the ground vegetation grows, it ultimately replaces the blanket which decomposes and furnishes the ground vegetation with a nutritive mulch.

The sod mat can be produced in many strengths and weights, with many diverse planting mediums, with multiple species of plants. The nylon sod reinforcement will degrade if it is uncovered by some accident and exposed to sunlight. Sod mats may be sold in roll form or a rectangular mats.

摘要： A fibrous web for planting seeds consists essentially of a mat of randomly oriented, unmodified, natural straw-like cellulosic fibers, viable seeds, water soluble adhesive and fertilizer on a tissue paper backing. A method of sowing an area of soil with seeds comprising laying the aforementioned web over the area. Apparatus for producing the aforementioned web comprises a conveyor belt, means for driving the conveyor belt, means for placing tissue paper backing on the conveyor belt, means for depositing onto the tissue paper backing on the conveyor belt while it is driven dry, fluffed randomly oriented, unmodified, natural cellulosic fibers to form a layer thereof on the conveyor belt, means for leveling the fluffed layer to form a mat, means for spraying an aqueous solution of water soluble adhesive onto the mat, means for depositing seed and fertilizer onto the wet adhesive bearing mat and means for drying the wet mat containing adhesive, seed and fertilizer.

摘要： In the production of a carpet of grass or other vegetable matter, a compost made from wood bark which is crushed and gauged, is spread onto a substantially flat surface impermeable to plant roots, the compost being mixed with seed before, during, or after, application of the flat surface. The roots of the plants formed from the seed form a fabric embedded in the compost. The carpet thus formed may be easily detached from the flat surface.
