摘要： The subject invention includes a fixed window assembly for a vehicle comprising a fixed glass, a trim portion having a polymeric base and a decorative member bonded to the polymeric base. An encapsulation is coupled to the fixed glass and the polymeric base to mount the trim portion in a spaced and adjacent position relative to the fixed glass. A method of manufacturing is also provided using first and second molding apparatuses. Polymeric material is injected into a first mold cavity of the first molding apparatus to form the polymeric base bonded to the decorative member. Polymeric material is injected into a second mold cavity of the second molding apparatus to form the encapsulation coupled to the fixed glass and simultaneously coupled to the polymeric base to mount the trim portion in an adjacent position to the fixed glass.

摘要： The subject invention provides for a weatherstrip assembly for sealing between a frame and a closure member of a vehicle. The assembly includes a trim portion having a body and a flange extending from the body. The flange is capable of moving between an initial position and a final position. A seal extends from the body for abutting and sealing the closure member. An adhesive is disposed on the body for coupling the trim portion to the frame. The adhesive is disposed opposite the seal such that the seal extends away from the adhesive. A retaining member is selectively mounted to the flange and spaced from the adhesive for selectively engaging the frame to selectively hold the flange in the initial position relative to the frame. The retaining member is removed from the flange while concurrently moving the flange toward the final position.

摘要： The present invention provides for a weatherstrip assembly for a motor vehicle. The assembly includes a carrier having a base and a first and second leg extending from the base to a first and second distal end, respectively. The legs are spaced from each other to define a channel for receiving the motor vehicle. A seal is mounted to the first distal end. At least one securing flange is coupled to the second distal end for fastening the carrier to the motor vehicle. A living hinge is disposed between the securing flange and the second distal end, such that the securing flange is moveable independent of the carrier. The living hinge comprises a first section having a generally recessed configuration and a first thickness, and a second section having a generally planar configuration and a second thickness. The second section comprises a first region extending between the first section and a first terminal edge of the living hinge, and a second region extending between the first section and an opposing second terminal edge of the living hinge. The second thickness is greater than the first thickness.

The strip is made of extruded material defining a channel which embracingly grips a flange. The extruded material is extended to form a limb which supports a lip contacting one surface of the window pane. A reinforcing carrier is embedded in the channel shaped extruded material to strengthen the grip on the flange. The carrier is provided with a plurality of transversely directed through slits to enable the carrier to be curved and the carrier has a longitudinally extending unslit region (B) arranged on the outside of the curve.

摘要： In a method of manufacturing a seal assembly, strips of material are extruded to form first and second bodies, and ends of the bodies are positioned into a mold cavity of a molding apparatus. An elastomeric material is injected into the mold cavity to form a locator device having a foot portion and a tab portion with the tab portion defining a first reference point. A thermoplastic elastomeric material is injected into the mold cavity to form a corner mold covering the body ends and the foot portion of the locator device with the corner mold defining a second reference point. The corner mold bonds the first body end, the second body end, and the locator device together to fix the locator device to the first body end at a locator position such that a predetermined distance between the reference points is maintained during injecting of the thermoplastic elastomeric material.

The body includes an interior base surface, a first interior leg surface, and a second interior leg surface disposed within the channel. The assembly includes at least one sealing lip having an abutment surface and a wearstrip disposed along at least one of the interior base surface, the first and second interior leg surfaces, and the abutment surface and formed of a thermoplastic polyethylene material. The wearstrip has a plurality of alternating wear sections and gaps that define a series of alternating semi-rigid and flexible sections, respectively, with each wear section having first and second surfaces. The first surface of one of the wear sections and the second surface of an adjacent wear section face each other to define the gap.

The glass run channel has a first locating feature adapted for attachment to the door frame and a first snap-fit feature. The applique has a second locating feature and a second snap-fit feature. The applique is located relative to the glass run channel in a located position when the first locating feature contacts the second locating feature and is attached to the glass run channel in the located position when the first snap-fit feature engages the second snap-fit feature. The fastener mounts the first locating feature to the door frame and is concealed from view on the interior surface of the door by the door frame and on the exterior surface of the door by the applique.

The weatherstrip includes a retaining clip having a mounting portion for securing the weatherstrip to the frame and having an outwardly extending leg defining a first channel. The weatherstrip also includes a cover having a first flange protruding downward from the concealing member to extend at least partially into the first channel. The weatherstrip also includes a seal member having a body portion and at least one sealing protrusion extending outwardly from the body portion. The body portion has an upper end and a lower end. The lower end is sandwiched between the leg of the retaining clip and the first flange of the cover. The cover further includes a retaining tab extending outwardly opposite from the concealing member, with the retaining tab engaging the upper end of the body portion.
