摘要： Rolled webs of papers and the like are slit by means of a conical rotary cutter riding the rotating roll, and the severed web portion is unwound. The cutter is mounted on a carrier arm by means of a pivot located close to a vertical plane through the roll axis, and the orthogonal projection of the axis of rotation of the cutter in that plane is inclined relative to the roll axis at an angle of 1.5*-8* to minimize friction between the cutter blade and the radial slit face of the remainder of the roll.

摘要： A shrink-on plastic foil package for protection of motor vehicles in transit or storage. The shrunk-on package envelops the motor vehicle on all sides and a non-shrunk fold of foil extends into the car''s interior between the driver''s door and the door frame to allow this door to be opened and closed to a degree without damaging the outer shrunk-on package. When the fold is slit the door can be completely opened and closed allowing access to the steering wheel of the vehicle. When the door is closed again the package is sealed against the atmosphere.

摘要： In an apparatus in which the thickness of a coating on sheet material is controlled by passing the material between a backing roll and a thin, rotating rod of a doctor blade assembly, the rod is rotatably embedded in a confined body of elastomeric polyurethane or synthetic rubber. A circumferential portion of the rod is exposed between two lips of the body which is under compressive stress between the confining walls and the rod. Lubricant and cooling liquid is fed to an axial groove open toward the receptacle of the body, mainly discharged axially from the groove and partly withdrawn by suction from another groove circumferentially spaced from the first groove in the direction of rod rotation.
