    • A vehicle levelling device includes a vehicle body with a rear section and a rear axle carried under the rear section of the vehicle body to provide support therefor. A support yoke is hingedly mounted to the vehicle body for pivotal movement about a transverse axis in a vertical plane. The support yoke holds the rear axle in a manner that the rear axle can rotate about a longitudinal axis. A hydraulic cylinder is attached to the vehicle body at a first end and to the support yoke at a second end so that it can be operated to lower or raise the rear section of the vehicle body with respect to the rear axle to thereby bring a tilted forklift into a horizontal position. Operation of the hydraulic cylinder is controlled by an electronic controller which in turn receives a tilt signal from a tilt sensor.

    • A power supply device for an electromotive railcar is adapted to receive external current from an overhead electric line via a pantograph and to feed driving current of lower voltage than the external current to electric loads in the railcar through first and second current output lines. The power supply device is provided with a static inverter couplable to the overhead electric line through first and second input lines and capable of producing the driving current. A battery is connected to the static inverter in parallel with the loads for selectively charging the driving current and discharging the charged electric current to the loads. An anti-discharge switch is provided on the first current output line for selectively connecting and disconnecting the loads to and from the battery. A discharge controller coacts with the anti-discharge switch for allowing the anti-discharge switch to be closed when no external current is fed to the static inverter and for causing the anti-discharge switch to become open when the static inverter receives the external current from the overhead electric line. In addition, the power supply device includes an emergency switch manually operable and in cooperation with the discharge controller for causing the anti-discharge switch to be closed so that the electic current stored in the battery is fed to the loads at the time the static inverter delivers no driving current to the loads.

    • A resiliently yieldable tail stock device for use in a numerically controlled lathe comprises a body slidable along a bed toward and away from a spindle, the slidable body having a bore and a passage hole each formed therethrough in an axial alignment with the spindle. Removably received within the bore of the slidable body is a center socket movable between an extended position and a retracted position and having a tapering blind bore open at its front end. The center socket carries a live center that has a pointed front end engageable with a workpiece and a tapering rear shank fitted into the tapering bore. Fixedly secured to the center socket is an elongate rod carrying a dog at its distal end. A compression spring is used to resiliently bias the center socket toward the extended position. A combination of electric motor and lead screw serves to cause a linear reciprocating movement of the slidable body. The electric motor is deenergized as the dog reaches a rearmost position just above a proximity switch.

    • A splash guard device is utilized in a machine tool to prevent chips and coolant from flying to the outside of a cutting compartment, while permitting smooth pallet changing operation. The splash guard device includes a splash guard door capable of up/down movement and swivellable about a vertical swivel axis in the course of pallet changing operation and an elevationally movable top sealing member having a lowered position in which it remains in contact with the top edge of the splash guard door and a raised position in which it is spaced apart from the top edge of the splash guard door. Responsive to the upward movement of the splash guard door, a linkage mechanism is adapted to cause the top sealing member to move from the lowered position into the raised position. A pair of fixed side splash guard walls extend in a spaced-apart parallel relationship with respect to the corresponding side edge of the splash guard door. Mounted on the respective one of the side splash guard walls are a pair of side sealing rods which are laterally displaceable toward and away from the splash guard door between an extended sealing position and a retracted non-sealing position.
