    • A system which utilizes plural image forming apparatus, equalizes gradation characteristics of images commonly output from such plural image forming apparatus. When the system includes three color copying apparatus, at first a test pattern image based on data from a pattern generator is output from the color copying apparatus. The prepared image is read by the reader of the color copying apparatus, and, based on the read data, the correction data of a table (LUT) are calibrated for obtaining density data for a laser beam. The calibration of the correction data of the color copying apparatus are conducted in a similar manner using, however, the reader of the same copying apparatus for reading the test pattern. It is therefore, rendered possible to exclude the influence of the difference in the reader characteristics on the calibration, and to equalize the gradation characteristics when the copying apparatus are used as printers.

    • When maximum density of an output image is lowered by a gamma correction, the number of tones is reduced and the tonality of the output image declines. In order to solve this problem, a pattern generator (215) is caused to generate a toned pattern and the gain of a D/A converter of a PWM circuit (212) is controlled so as to output a test pattern having a density ranging from maximum pulse width Pff(50%) to maximum pulse width Pff(100%) for each color component (step S1). Image information that has been read (step S2) from the test pattern is converted to density information (step S3), and Pff is set (step S4) from the relationship between Pff and image density based upon coordinate information provided by the test pattern.

    • An image forming system includes a generator for generating an image signal representing a predetermined test image having a plurality of tone levels, an image forming device for forming the predetermined test image on a recording medium based on the signal, a first measuring device for measuring density levels of the formed predetermined test image, corresponding to each of the plurality of tone levels of the image signal, a controller for determining characteristics of a change of density levels in the predetermined test image to a change of tone levels in the image signal based on a plurality of density levels measured by the first measuring device, and for making a conversion data table for converting tone levels of an input image signal in accordance with the characteristics, a designator for generating instructions for designation a correction of the conversion data table, a transferring device for transferring the image formed on the recording medium to a recording sheet, a second measuring device for measuring density levels of the image on the recording sheet, wherein the controller controls the generator, the image forming device, and the transferring devices to correct the conversion data table based on the density levels measured by the second measuring device.

    • The present invention provides an electrophotographing apparatus for forming a color image of an improved image quality. For the provision of such an apparatus, a plurality of color developing means are arranged in the traveling direction of the electrophotographing member. The length of the traveling direction of the photosensitive member becomes longer, and the dark attenuation characteristics are created. The resultant problems which tend to lower the image quality are solved.In consideration of the dark attenuation characteristics of an electrophotographing photosensitive member, the present invention performs fine color adjustments according to each color of an developing image.
