    • A conventional projector headlamp has low efficiency because an amount of light is shaded almost half by a shutter for a low-beam light distribution. In addition, only a projection lens is seen in the installed condition, inviting old-fashioned designs disadvantageously. In a projector headlamp (1) of the invention, a vertical section passing through the center of a projection lens (5) includes a convex front surface and a flat rear surface (5a). A line connecting the upper end to the lower end on the rear surface (5a) is tilted to the vertical. Thus, the projection lens (5) has a prismatic action for directing the entire light downward. This is effective to reduce an amount of light to be shaded by a shutter (4) and provide improved brightness and novel designed appearances.

    • A vehicle light and a road illumination device can include a semiconductor light emitting device capable of forming a luminance distribution where the light with a maximum value can be arranged at or near a light distribution cutoff line, thereby improving its light utilization efficiency. The vehicle light can include a semiconductor light emitting device including a semiconductor light emitting element and a wavelength conversion layer having a thickness-decreased portion that is formed substantially at a center line of the semiconductor light emitting element and extending to one end thereof so that the thickness is reduced from the center portion toward the one end. A projection optical system for forming a cutoff line can be configured to project a plurality of light source images each including an image portion corresponding to the thickness-decreased portion at its upper area, and to arrange the image portions in at least one of a horizontal direction and an oblique direction.

    • Provided is a toner binder which combines excellent low-temperature fixing properties and excellent hot-offset resistance (namely which permits a wide fixing-temperature range) and which exhibits excellent storage stability. The toner binder comprises (A) a polyester resin, (B) a specific crystalline resin and, if necessary, (C) a non-crystalline linear polyester resin. The polyester resin (A) comprises a carboxylic acid component (x) and a polyol component (y) as the essential constituent units, said component (x) comprising two or more kinds of dicarboxylic acids (x1) selected from among aromatic dicarboxylic acids and ester-forming derivatives thereof in a total amount of 80 mol % or more and further containing an at least trivalent polycarboxylic acid (x2) as another essential component, and said component (y) comprising a C2-10 aliphatic diol (y1) in an amount of 50 mol % or more. Further, the polyester resin (A) exhibits a storage modulus at 150° C. [G′(150)] of 2000 Pa or more, and the [G′(150)] and [G′(180)] (storage modulus at 180° C.) of the resin (A) satisfy a specific relationship.
