    • An electrical discharge machine for applying a pulsed voltage to a machining gap between an electrode and a workpiece disposed opposite thereto. An insulating dielectric fluid, comprising an oil or water with compound additive, is disposed in the gap. A positive polarity voltage and an opposite polarity voltage are applied via switches and respective impedances to the machining gap in order to generate a discharge for machining the workpiece. The impedance values may be selectively set and the switching of the voltages controlled such as to apply a positive polarity voltage at the stop time of an opposite polarity pulsed voltage, whereby the average voltage approximates a predetermined value, preferably zero, during the stop time. Voltage control during the stop time will result in high speed and finish, especially for control in connection with a jump operation.

    • This invention is to provided in such an information recording apparatus in which when an exposing locus is formed on a film by irradiating on the film an exposing beam whose width is changed in response to an input audio signal, the average level positions of the exposing locus is controlled in response to the signal level of the input audio signal, a level detector circuit for comparing the input audio signal with a predetermined reference level signal, a continuous circuit for making the compared output from the level detector circuit continuous, a first integrating circuit for integrating the continuous output from the continuous circuit and a second integrating circuit for integrating the integrating outputs from the first integrating circuit and delivering the same as the average level position signals used upon the exposure and recording. According to the present invention, it is possible to effectively remove the sharp inflection point on a waveform of a level detecting signal without causing an over-modulation.

    • An electric discharge machining apparatus for cutting and shaping a workpiece into an article having a desired configuration in which the period of time required until the speed of a table carrying the workpiece becomes constant is made quite short. Comparator means compares a gap voltage between a wire-shaped electrode and a workpiece with a reference voltage to produce an error voltage. In one embodiment, a non-linear amplifier is disposed between the output of the comparator means and the input of an integrator. In the integrator, a clamping diode is coupled across an integrating capacitor so as to prevent the output of the integrator from becoming negative.
