    • The invention is directed to performing electronic component mounting operations by the suction nozzles of the mounting heads in each of the plurality of the rotary tables independently, moving each of the positioning tables for positioning a printed board in a component mounting position independently, and performing the electronic component mounting operation on the plurality of the printed boards independently. A component feeding device moves a plurality of component feeding tables having a plurality of component feeding units in an arraying direction thereof respectively and independently. Mounting heads having a plurality of suction nozzles for picking up electronic components from the component feeding devices respectively are provided at predetermined intervals corresponding to intermittent pitches on an outer circumference of two rotary tables intermittently rotating. Therefore, the suction nozzle of the mounting head of each of the rotary tables picks up the electronic component fed to a component pickup position in each of the component feeding units set on each of the component feeding tables, and mounts the component on the printed board on the corresponding XY table.

    • There is provided a mounting head for an electronic component-mounting apparatus. A nozzle holder has a plurality of vacuum nozzles arranged circumferentially about an axis thereof in a manner such that each vacuum nozzle is capable of projecting from the nozzle holder and retracting in the nozzle holder. A holder support member supports the nozzle holder in a manner such that the nozzle holder can rotate about the axis thereof. A nozzle-rotating motor drives the nozzle holder about the axis thereof for rotation in normal and reverse directions. The nozzle holder is driven for rotation by the nozzle-rotating motor to bring one of the vacuum nozzles selected for use to a projecting position. The selected one is caused to project from a lower end face of the nozzle holder at the projecting position. A plurality of cam followers are mounted at respective upper portions of the vacuum nozzles. The cam followers are in contact with an annular end cam in a manner such that the cam flowers can move on the annular end cam. The annular end cam is formed with a nozzle-projecting surface for causing the selected one of the vacuum nozzles to project from the nozzle holder when the selected one of the vacuum nozzles is at the projecting position. A cam-rotating motor drives the end cam for rotation about an axis of the end cam in normal and reverse directions.

    • The invention is directed to increased stabilization of a pickup operation by reducing a reaction against disturbance by reducing a feedback value when a pickup rate is improved. A positional shifting amount of an electronic component on a suction nozzle before the electronic component is mounted on a printed board is stored in a RAM each time the component is picked up at a component feeding unit until a pickup count number reaches a predetermined pickup number, and a CPU calculates an average of the positional shifting amounts. When the pickup count number reaches the predetermined pickup number, the CPU obtains a temporary coefficient by adding an initial value to a value obtained by multiplying a negative coefficient by the pickup count number, and calculates a feedback value by multiplying the temporary coefficient by the average. The calculated feedback value is added to an offset value of a component pickup position to modify the offset value, and uses the offset value in the next pickup operation at the component feeding unit.

A flow meter is arranged across a vacuum passage communicating between a vacuum pump and the nozzle hole of the vacuum nozzle, for measuring an actual flow rate of air drawn in through the nozzle hole. Clogging of the nozzle hole and erroneous mounting of the vacuum nozzle is detected by comparing the actual flow rate measured by the flow meter with a design flow rate of air to be drawn through the nozzle hole, the design flow rate of air being stored in advance.
