    • A disk apparatus includes (a) an actuator having a head supporting arm with a tab formed on the arm and a voice coil fixed to the arm, which arm is rotatable on a horizontal rotary shaft as well as on a vertical rotary shaft, (b) a voice coil motor having an upper yoke with a magnet fixed to the upper yoke and a lower yoke sandwiching and confronting the voice coil, and (c) a ramp section guiding and holding the tab at a refuge place. When the actuator at the refuge place starts loading with a starter command, a pulsed driving current is applied to the voice coil temporarily for urging the tab against a tab-holding plane of the ramp section, thereby making use of repulsion force generated on the actuator, so that the tab can leave the refuge place efficiently for carrying out the loading operation.

    • The present invention provides a head holding member and a head holding method of a head actuator having a very high impact resisting property by a simple construction, and a disk device using the head holding member and the head holding method. Concretely, a head support arm has a leaf spring portion for pressing the head support arm against a lamp portion (14), and is constructed so as to be rotated around a line perpendicular to a plane formed by a center line of the longitudinal direction of the head support arm and the axis of a rotating shaft. The head holding member is constructed by forming a load side wall face (14d), a tab portion upper wall face (14g) and a tab portion holding plane (14e) in the lamp portion (14). The load side wall face (14d) prevents tab portion (8a) from being moved from an escaping position to the direction of recording medium (4) and tab portion (8a) abuts on load side wall face (14d). Tab portion upper wall face (14g) prevents tab portion (8a) from being moved in the upward direction. Tab portion holding plane (14e) holds tab portion (8a) in the escaping position. Thus, the head holding member resists an impact applied at a stopping time, and a stable operation can be performed at a power turning-on time.

    • A mass spectrometer is provided in which ions are favorably introduced into a loop orbit or favorably led out from the loop orbit without affecting the motion of the ions flying along the loop orbit. An ion-introduction orbit 5 is set to correspond to the orbit (ejection orbit portion 4) of ions after being bent by the sector-shaped electric field E1 in the loop orbit 4. When ions are introduced, a voltage applied to the electrode unit 11 is put to zero to release the sector-shaped electric field E1. Then the ions emitted along the ion-introduction orbit 5 fly straight in the electrode unit 11. The direction and position of the ions coming out from the exit end of the electric field is the same as those ions flying along the loop orbit 4. Therefore, there is no need for placing a deflection electrode for introducing/leading-out ions on the loop orbit.
