    • In a valve operating apparatus, torque is transmitted from an eccentric drive cam attached to a drive shaft through a multinodular-link motion-transmission mechanism including a link arm, a rocker arm, and a link rod to a rockable cam to cause an engine valve to open and close. Also provided is a control cam whose geometric center is displaced from a control shaft. By way of eccentric rotary motion of the control cam, a valve lift of the engine valve is variably controlled. Lubricating oil supplied from an oil passage formed in the drive shaft via a first communicating passage formed in the drive cam into a clearance between the link arm and the drive cam, is forcibly fed via a second communicating passage into a pivotally linked portion between the link arm and the rocker arm by oscillatory pumping action created by eccentric rotary motion of the drive cam.

    • A variable valve apparatus for an internal combustion engine including a cylinder set comprising a plurality of cylinders. The variable valve apparatus includes: a control shaft adapted for rotation; a valve actuating mechanism provided for each cylinder of the cylinder set and adapted to vary a valve lift characteristic of an engine valve of the each cylinder of the cylinder set in accordance with a rotational position of the control shaft; and a valve lift adjusting mechanism provided for each cylinder of a first subset of the cylinder set and adapted to adjust the valve lift characteristic of the engine valve of the each cylinder of the first subset in accordance with a standard valve lift characteristic determined in accordance with the valve lift characteristic of the engine valve of each cylinder of a second subset of the cylinder set.

    • A handling apparatus for warehousing arrangement which is supported on and guided by a floor rail installed in, for example, a factory for movement along a predetermined track provided in front of load-in/load-out sections of a rack. A pair of front and rear posts upstanding from a travel carriage of the handling apparatus and spaced from each other in the dirction of horizontal movement of the carriage have opposed surfaces on which are formed front and rear guide faces. The elevator is guided at one and the other ends thereof by and along the front and rear guide faces so that the elevator is vertically movable along the guide faces. Cord members for vertical drive are arranged along the opposed surfaces of the pair of posts and are connected to the elevator. On the opposed surfaces of the posts at positions opposite to the cord members is defined a relief spacing between each cord member and each respective post.
