    • A display device using external light and including: a light guide panel guiding light; an internal light source disposed on at least one side of the light guide panel and supplying internal light to the light guide panel; an optical filter disposed on a rear surface of the light guide panel to be exposed to the outside, and reflecting light with specific wavelengths and transmitting light with wavelengths other than the specific wavelengths among the internal light emitted from the internal light source and external light; and a display panel forming an image using the internal light and the external light which are illuminated through the light guide panel and the optical filter. The display device improves visibility using both external light and internal light by simply adding the optical filter to an existing display device.

    • A gamut mapping apparatus and method using a vector stretching that increases lightness and chroma depending on the shape of a gamut under a consistent chromaticity of a color signal of a source device. The gamut mapping apparatus may include a first color space conversion block to convert an input color signal into a first color signal of a LCH color space; a vector stretching block to perform the gamut mapping and to output a second color signal; and a second color space conversion block to convert the second color signal into a color space of the input color signal. The gamut mapping may be carried out under the consistent chromaticity such that a frequency of discoloration decreases. Also, gamut mapping can be performed after the source and the target gamuts are calibrated such that adverse effects caused by geometrical characteristics of the gamut and a decrease in chroma are reduced.

    • A spoke-processing apparatus usable with sequential color display devices using spokes depending on a color saturation and a luminance of an input color signal. A spoke-processing method usable in sequential color display devices using the spokes includes calculating a color saturation of an input color signal and determining whether the calculated color saturation is less than or equal to a first threshold, determining whether the input color signal has a luminance that is greater than a second threshold when the calculated color saturation is determined to be less than or equal to the first threshold, determining whether to increase the luminance of the input color signal using spoke areas when the luminance of the color input signal is greater than the second threshold and the calculated color saturation is less than or equal to the first threshold and calculating a signal adjustment ratio to intensify or lessen the input color signal based on whether the luminance of the input color signal is increased by the spoke areas, and outputting an output color signal having luminance of respective color components intensified or lessened according to the calculated signal adjustment ratio.
