摘要： A motor control device for controlling rotation of a motor by controlling a driving voltage applied to the motor is provided. The device includes a driving voltage control unit configured to control the driving voltage, and a detecting unit configured to detect rotation of the motor. The motor has operating characteristics indicative of relationship between the driving voltage and a rotation speed of the motor, where the operating characteristics have a specific dead-band range of driving voltages wherein the rotation speed of the motor is zero regardless of changes in the driving voltage. The driving voltage control unit performs a low rotation control operation including at least one alternating repetition of a first control operation and a second control operation. The first control operation adjusts the driving voltage to have a value outside of the dead-band range from a value within the dead-band range, while the second control operation adjusts the driving voltage to have the value within the dead-band range from the value outside of the dead-band range. The second control operation is performed after a specific first amount of motor rotation has been detected in the first control operation.

摘要： The invention provides, as an aspect thereof, an document reading apparatus that includes: a speed calculating unit that calculates a speed related to the rotation of a motor on the basis of a signal that is outputted from an encoder; and a controlling unit that calculates control amount on the basis of the speed calculated by the speed calculating unit so as to control the rotation of the motor in accordance with the calculated control amount. In the configuration of an document reading apparatus according to this aspect of the invention, the above-mentioned controlling unit controls the motor with an increase in the control amount in a case where there occurs no change in the signal that is outputted from the encoder for a certain period of time. The increase in the control amount is based on the length of time that has elapsed since the last change in the signal.
