    • A disk and a disk clamp device in a hard disk drive are disclosed. The disk of this invention has a stress and strain relief section, which effectively intercepts the spread of clamping torque-caused stress and strain energy from the clamped zone to the magnetic head landing zone of the disk when the disk is clamped to a spindle motor of the hard disk drive with a clamp being screwed to the hub of the spindle motor using a plurality of screws. The stress and strain relief section thus almost completely reduces strain in the landing zone and protects the landing zone from bending or distortion. The stress and strain relief section may be a plurality of concentric arcuate apertures which are regularly formed on a concentric circle at a position just outside a disk clamping portion of the clamp. Alternatively, the stress and strain relief section may be an annular groove which is concentrically formed on each side of the disk at a position between the clamped zone and the magnetic head landing zone.

    • An actuator fixing apparatus for a disk drive of a computer is disclosed. In a disk drive system having a disk capable of being rotated at a high speed by a spindle motor, a pivotally installed actuator, head gimbals installed on one end of the actuator connecting the actuator to a magnetic head, a voice coil motor and a bobbin positioned on a bottom portion of the actuator, an actuator fixing apparatus includes an automatic locking arm extending from an end portion of the actuator. The automatic locking arm has a locking groove formed on a bottom portion thereof. The apparatus also includes a stopper having first and second locking magnets and a hook-shaped locking unit rotatably installed adjacent to the stopper having first and second metal conducting plates. The hook-shaped locking unit has a locking projection extending from it, whereby the locking projection is inserted into the locking groove to prevent movement of the actuator. When the locking projection is fully inserted into the locking groove, the second locking magnet and the second metal conductor are attached. Similarly, when the locking projection is fully withdrawn from the locking groove, the first locking magnet and the first metal conductor are attached.

    • An actuator assembly in a disk drive includes an actuator arm having a first distal end supporting a transducer head and a second distal end opposite to said first distal end supporting a movable voice coil section of a voice coil motor. The voice coil section comprises a coil, inner and outer bobbins positioned respectively at inner and outer sides of the coil, and a plurality of coil guides installed at respective corners of the inner bobbin for fixedly guiding the coil so as to prevent distortion due to difference in thermal expansion coefficients between the plastic bobbins and the coil during insertion molding in order to enhance a combining force between the coil and the bobbins. A gap of at least 0.5 mm is formed between the coil guides and the coil for separating the coil from the coil guides to prevent damages due to friction therefrom. The inner bobbin further comprises a plurality of guide holes perforated at corners for mounting the coil guides.
