    • A connection device consisting basically of a socket member (1) exhibiting a termination area (2) for the connection of an electric cable and a contact area (4) joined to it by means of a base (1a), the contact area being in the form of tines and intended to receive and hold a mating pin (3), and of a separate driver member (5) in the form of a closed ring which is preferably manufactured of heat recoverable material. In order to create an electrical connection device where the driver member being retained against the contact area, creates both a mechanical force and keyed-in connection between the socket member and the mating pin when in its second functional position, a recess which is at least partial formed into the mating pin, and the tines and driver member are formed and positioned relative to each other in such a way that the driver element partially fits into the recess when in its second functional position. In addition, when using a driver member of heat recoverable material, it is advantageous if at least one locking element is provided which prevents unwanted actuation of the driver element when locked, while permitting appropriate actuation when released.

    • The operation of the interrupting switch in the primary circuit of an ignition coil triggers a first timing circuit having a fixed interval or one sometimes modified by engine loading, at the end of which a timing interval signal is generated which lasts for a second interval. The latter is applied to switch a resistor across the timing wave generator to load down its output voltage. In this manner, an engine equipped with a simple ignition shift providing spark advance in the low speed region and then steady or slightly retarding timing thereafter, can be caused to provide a retarding priming shift that sets in at a medium speed, increases and then tapers off with higher speeds so as to cover a speed range in which the engine is particularly sensitive to engine knock and avoiding the inefficiencies which would be necessary if the simple ignition shift system had to be backed off to avoid intersecting the knock boundary. It is also possible to utilize the first timing interval to charge or discharge a capacitor to produce an engine speed signal for biasing the threshold of the interrupter switch for control of the dwell angle with respect to engine speed. Two timing intervals can be determined by a single digital counter reset by each ignition pulse and connected with a decoder set to recognize the ends of successive intervals.

    • The invention relates to an electronically controlled ignition system in which a correction signal is obtained from a control signal derived directly from an ignition pulse sensor. The invention consists of producing a saw-tooth signal with a rising flank and a falling flank within one cycle of the square wave control signal, using only one flank of the said control signal. The ratio or relationship between the gradients of the two flanks is a measure of the change in the corrected signal relative to the control signal. The electronically controlled ignition system is particularly suitable for compensating for the ignition advance, caused by an induction sensor, as compared to the mechanical position of the rotor at low engine speeds.
