    • A fuel injection pump having a cam drive and an injection adjuster piston, acting on the cam drive and serving the purpose of an injection onset adjustment. The injection adjuster piston on a face end encloses at least one pressure chamber that via a control valve is either made to communicate with a pressure source or a relief line or can be closed entirely. The control valve is actuated by an a proportional electromagnet. As a result, only a little adjusting medium is required, to obtain a high efficiency of the injection onset adjustment, and advantageously the injection adjuster piston is stressed only axially, and frictional forces on the circumference of the injection adjuster piston are thus avoided.

    • A fuel injection system having one high-pressure fuel pump and one fuel injection valve communicating therewith for each engine cylinder. A piston of the fuel pump defines a work chamber which communicates with a pressure chamber of the fuel injection valve, which valve has an injection valve member by which injection openings are controlled, and which valve is movable in an opening direction counter to a closing force by the pressure prevailing in the pressure chamber. A first control valve controls, a connection of the pump work chamber to a relief chamber and a second control valve controls, a connection of a control pressure chamber, communicating with the pump work chamber and defined by a control piston, to a relief chamber. The control piston, controls a flow cross section of the connection of the control pressure chamber to the relief chamber as a function of the stroke of the control piston in such a way that when the injection valve member is in a closing direction, a larger flow cross section is uncovered than when the injection valve member is disposed in an open position.

    • A fuel injection pump of the distributor type which has a reciprocatingly driven pump piston that is load-bearing in a rotating distributor shaft which pumps fuel out of a pump work chamber to various fuel injection valves via a distributor opening. To control the duration of high-pressure injection, an electrically actuated valve is provided with a valve member in a valve chamber that communicates with the pump work chamber and from a second valve chamber, communicates with a low-pressure region. To terminate the high-pressure injection, the valve member makes a communication between the two valve chambers, whereupon the outflow of the fuel stream is controlled by disposing a diameter constriction in the connecting line, thus reducing any tendency to cavitation.

    • A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, is proposed, with a distributor pump piston (6), which is supported in a housing bore (5) and on its jacket face, has a distributor groove (12), a filling groove (18), which is connected to a pressure relief chamber, and a pressure compensation surface (36). This filling groove constitutes a first leakage route (39) in the direction of the distributor groove (12) and constitutes a second leakage route (42) in the direction of an annular groove (20) in such a way that the pressure compensation surface, which is otherwise always closed by the inner wall of the bore (5), produces a high-pressure fuel supply by way of the first leakage route (39) in the direction of the pressure compensation surface (36) and this pressure compensation surface (36) is in turn relieved by way of the second leakage route (42) in the direction of the annular groove (20). The disposition of the pressure compensation surface (36) diametrically opposite the distributor groove (12) results in a very favorable compensation of the forces acting on the distributor pump piston during the high-pressure delivery phase, wherein by way of the pressure supply by means of the leakage routes mentioned, these compensating forces can be brought into line with the respective pressure level and the loading of the distributor pump piston (FIG. 4).
