    • The invention concerns a method of operating a wind power installation for generating electrical power from wind, wherein the wind power installation is operated selectively in a first or a second operating mode, and the wind power installation in the first operating mode generates as much electrical power as is possible on the basis of the prevailing wind and the design of the wind power installation, and the wind power installation in the second operating mode generates less electrical power than in the first operating mode, wherein the wind power installation is controlled in the first operating mode with a first adjustment parameter set and in the second operating mode with a second adjustment parameter set different from the first adjustment parameter set, and when the wind power installation is operated in the second operating mode the power which can be generated at a maximum with the first adjustment parameter set or a differential power as the difference between that maximum power which can be generated and the power currently generated in the second operating mode, in dependence on the second adjustment parameter set, is ascertained, and/or the second adjustment parameter set is selected in dependence on a desired power reduction by which a power to be generated by the wind power installation is to be lower with respect to the power which can be generated at the maximum by the wind power installation in the first operating mode.
