    • A non-chattering, float-controlled, pilot-operated diaphragm valve for controlling the flow of liquids from a conduit under pressure to a tank where the surface is in turbulent condition. The lightweight float and pilot valve follow the relatively high frequency fluctuations of level and the diaphragm valve responds causing a rapid opening and closing of the main flow through the conduit into the tank. The chattering is eliminated by the insertion of operative means between the float closure means and the movable diaphragm. A small diameter rod of selected length is positioned between the diaphragm and the closure means so that when the main flow through the conduit starts, the movement of the diaphragm away from the conduit forces the pilot valve to open and submerge the float to a considerable depth. While the float rises, the pilot valve remains open permitting the main flow to continue, and raising the level in the tank a substantial amount so that there is a continuing pressure on the float to maintain a closed pilot. This prevent the immediate reopening of the conduit and therefore, removes the rapid chattering action.

    • Apparatus for automatically opening an orifice to allow flow when ambient temperature drops below a predetermined level, such as the freezing point of water. The apparatus is for connection to a liquid line that carries liquid at a selected pressure for producing a selected low flow rate of liquid from the liquid line when the ambient temperature drops below a selected temperature. The apparatus comprises an orifice in the end of the liquid line of selected small diameter, a closed chamber means having an expansible portion filled with a selected condensible gas, for which the vapor pressure varies with temperature in a known manner. The apparatus further comprises a valve assembly selectively positioned adjacent the orifice and at a specific distance from the expansible portion of the closed chamber. The closure means is selectively positioned by means of spacers positioned adjacent the valve assembly. A means connecting the expansible portion of the chamber to a closure means in the valve assembly is provided to shut off the flow of liquid by sealing an orifice when the temperature is above a selected value, and to open the orifice to allow a small trickle flow of liquid whenever the ambient temperature is less than a selected value, such as the freezing point of water.

    • A power line filter for removing interference is provided which is formed on a printed circuit board which has an extended grounding area and to which are mounted parallel capacitors, a pair of line inductors and a parallel resistor. Each of the inductors is formed as multi-section coils wound on plastic bobbins and which can be machine wound and the two wound inductors are then mounted on rectangular cores of U-U or U-I-shape to form the line inductors. At least two of the capacitors are rectangular shaped and are mounted on opposite ends of the line inductors and the assembled filter is placed into a case and encapsulated through openings formed in the printed circuit board.

    • A float operated valve for controlling the rate of flow of water from a pipe carrying water under pressure, to a vessel, comprises a pipe having an end opening of selected diameter and a flange of larger diameter surrounding the pipe. A flexible diaphragm is attached over the flange having a central closure pad adapted to cut off water flow when pressed against the pipe. A small orifice is drilled through the diaphragm so that when the flow is shut off, water can still flow through the orifice to the second side of the diaphragm. A second short pipe having a similar flange is bolted against the diaphragm to the first flange, to provide a water tight seal. There is a second small orifice in the second end of the second pipe, and a float mechanism is provided with a closure tip to close the second orifice when the water level is at a selected value. The closure tip provided can vary the size of the second orifice so that as soon as it is opened, the orifice size is a minimum. As the water level drops, the tip moves farther away and the orifice is enlarged. Depending on the ratio of areas of the first and second orifices, water pressure on the second side of the diaphragm prevents flow. When the second orifice reaches a selected area the diaphragm is no longer pressed against the first pipe, and a high flow of water is provided.

    • A float operated valve for controlling the rate of flow of water from a pipe carrying water under pressure, to a vessel, comprises a pipe having an end opening of selected diameter and a flange of larger diameter surrounding the pipe. When the second orifice reaches a selected ares the diaphragm no longer seals the first pipe and a high flow of water is provided. A removable, resilient insert in the first pipe seats the diaphragm. The resilient insert minimizes valve maintenance while prolonging component service life. An anti-syphon relief prevents reverse fluid flow during vacuum or negative pressure conditions. The relief causes air to enter the valve to break the suction created by the vacuum or negative pressure condition while preventing water loss during normal operations.
