    • A fuel system for a diesel engine is provided that includes a fuel supply tank module for storing fuel. The fuel supply tank module includes a fuel pump module reservoir which has an in-tank low pressure lift pump and a bimetallic thermostatic flow valve. The fuel system also includes a fuel filter module for filtering fuel pumped from the fuel supply tank module, a high pressure pump for pumping fuel from the fuel filter module, a diesel engine for receiving fuel from the high pressure pump, and a fuel return line for returning fuel to the bimetallic thermostatic flow valve. The bimetallic thermostatic flow valve includes a bimetallic element in thermal communication with the returning fuel. The bimetallic element deflects in response to the thermal communication so that returning fuel flows to at least one of the fuel pump module reservoir and the in-tank low pressure lift pump.

    • Vapor reducing structure (25) is constructed and arranged to be associated with a fuel pressure regulator (18) of a fuel system (10′) of a vehicle. The pressure regulator has an outlet (28) for fuel that is in excess of fuel required by an engine of the vehicle. The reducing structure includes a fuel accumulator (26) associated with an outlet of the pressure regulator defining a volume in which fuel exiting the outlet of the regulator can accumulate. Flow restricting structure (30′) is associated with the accumulator and is constructed and arranged to create sufficient back-pressure to eliminate vaporization of the fuel exiting the outlet of the pressure regulator.

    • The present invention refers to a fuel pressure regulator assembly and method for regulating the pressure of the fuel supplied to the fuel rail at a predetermined pressure. The fuel pressure regulator includes a housing and fuel cover for containing the fuel pressure regulator and submersing the fuel pressure regulator in fuel at all times. A valve element allows excess fuel to exit the fuel pressure regulator and return to the fuel tank for reuse. The fuel component assembly also allows for a method of reducing turbulent fuel flow and for controlling noise and hydrocarbon emissions. The method is achieved by providing a containment assembly that submerges the pressure regulator in fuel for containing and directing fuel flow path.

    • A reservoir 10 is provided for mounting to a bottom of a fuel tank of a vehicle. The reservoir includes wall structure 13 coupled with a bottom to define an interior space 17. The bottom has an internal surface 27 within the interior space, an external surface 15, and an opening 12 in the bottom. A check valve 11 is associated with the opening. Valve protection structure 16 extends from the external surface and is provided continuously about the entire perimeter of the bottom to define a plurality of tortuous paths P for fuel flow from the tank to the opening. Feet structure 26 extend from the external surface to contact the bottom of the tank. A plurality of pockets 30 are provided in the internal surface 27 of the bottom for collecting foreign particles that may enter the reservoir.

    • A fuel pump module assembly includes a fuel pump 10 having an inlet 16 and an outlet 17. The fuel pump 10 is constructed and arranged to send fuel from the outlet to an engine of a vehicle. The fuel pump has a vapor purge port 13 therein constructed and arranged to permit fuel vapor to exit the fuel pump generally downwardly. A pump filter 14 is disposed below the vapor purge port 13 and is associated with the inlet 16 of the fuel pump. The pump filter is constructed and arranged to filter fuel prior to entering the inlet. A vapor deflector 18 is associated with the vapor purge port 13 and is constructed and arranged to deflect vapor, which exits the vapor purge port, so as to continue to move generally downwardly but away from the pump filter.
