    • A system is disclosed that generates search results using a transparent search engine. The system enables the sorting and filtering of search listings based upon one or more metrics or categories of information, listed on the search results page as part of a multi-dimensional sort list. The system may also determine relevancy of a document based upon a weighting of the listing metrics corresponding to a given search listing. The system further includes functionality for displaying conversion rates and ancillary information along with the search results. The system also provides the ability to charge for paid advertisements or listings only when an actual transaction takes place, and to display transaction-related data as part of a listing metric associated with a given search listing. By revealing all or some of the underlying data associated with the listings that appears in the search results, the system provides a transparent search engine that advantageously provides focused search results, enhanced sorting and filtering capability and novel arrangements for payment of listings returned by the search engine.

    • A search engine for dynamically generating search results for the user is disclosed. In one embodiment, the user submits a first search query for searching a primary database, such as the content obtained from the World Wide Web, and the search engine obtains primary search listings based upon the search query, which search listings are distinguished from banner advertisements. The system then performs a further search of one or more secondary databases. The secondary search is initiated by the user or automatically by the system, based upon one or more search parameters. The secondary databases may include internal databases maintained by a provider of goods or services, databases that are updated in real time, or databases that include data obtained from a variety of different sources. Examples of secondary databases include inventory databases, product information databases, scheduling databases, market-related databases, location databases or any other database. The search engine compiles the primary search results and secondary search results to produce dynamic search results. The system then presents the dynamic search results to the user, advantageously providing enhanced search listings that include both static and dynamic content relevant to the user's interests and needs.

    • A delivery assurance system for ensuring that people have an opportunity to view messages shared by authors to which they subscribe is disclosed. The delivery assurance system is configured to communicate with at least one author and a plurality of followers associated with the at least one author. The system in the preferred embodiment comprises a computer processor configured to receive a post from an author; transmit a first copy of the post to a plurality of users; determine if any of the plurality of users did not see the post; automatically transmit a second copy of the post to each of the plurality of users that did not see the first copy of the post; and remove the first copy of the post from a timeline of each user to which a second copy of the post was transmitted. Transmission of multiple copies of the messages, therefore, enables users to see a message regardless of when the author initially transmitted it.

    • The invention is a system and method for heliostat mirror control. Here, each heliostat mirror generates a low intensity “signal beam”, directed at an angle off from the heliostat mirror's high intensity and sensor blinding “main beam” of reflected solar energy. The low intensity signal beams may be created by reflecting a small portion of the incident solar light at an angle from the main beam, by reflected artificial light, or from lasers shinning onto mirrors from known locations. The signal beams are detected by optical sensors mounted way from the main heliostat receiver focus, and can be used in a closed loop control system to efficiently ensure that individual heliostat mirrors in a heliostat array accurately track sunlight and direct the sunlight to a central receiver. Because heliostat mirrors need not be taken “off sun” for positioning, the system allows heliostat arrays to be run at high efficiency.
