    • A card edge connector comprises an insulative housing having a mating face and a mounting face and a plurality of different kinds of conductive contacts. The housing defines an elongate slot in the mating face for receiving a mating edge of a circuit board having an unequal number of conductive pads on opposite faces of the mating edge. The housing also defines a plurality of aligned, transverse cavities on each side thereof for receiving the different kinds of conductive contacts therein. At least two kinds of different contacts are received in the transverse cavities of one side of the housing and a smaller number of contacts are received in the cavities of the opposite side of the housing.

    • An electrical connector includes an insulative base (8) defining a plurality of contact receiving bores (81) for each receiving a contact element (9) therein. A cover plate (5) is attached to the base to define a space therebetween for movably receiving a slide plate (7). The slide plate defines a plurality of slots (72) corresponding to the contact receiving bores of the base and each slot retains a conductive member (70) therein. The cover plate defines holes (51) therein corresponding to the slots and adapted to guide pins (4) of a chip module into the slots. The slide plate is moveable between a released position and an engaged position where the conductive member engages with both the pin and the contact element to establish electrical connection therebetween. Each contact element includes a soldering section (92) extending beyond the base and adapted to be soldered to a circuit board (3), and an engaging section (93) extending into the corresponding slot for being engaged by the conductive member. A retention section (91) fixed in the base is spaced from and connected to the soldering section by a connection section (910) thereby allowing a reduction of thickness of the connector without sacrificing the mechanical strength thereof. The connection section is resiliently deformable to accommodate a relative movement between the retention section and the soldering section caused by a difference in thermal expansion between the connector and the circuit board.

    • An electrical connector includes a base having a top face in which contacts are retained. A cover defining a plurality of through holes for receiving pins of a central processing unit is mounted to the base thereby defining an interior space therebetween for accommodating a slide plate. The slide plate has a conductive member corresponding to each of the contacts and is movable to electrically engage each contact with the corresponding pin of the central processing unit. Two elongate recesses are defined in the top face of the cover. Each elongate recess has two end walls forming two opposite inclined faces. Two elongate projections are formed on a bottom face of the cover and are received in the recesses of the base. Each projection has two inclined end faces matingly and guidingly engaging with the end walls of the corresponding recess thereby properly positioning the cover with respect to the base and preventing the cover from sliding with respect to the base during movement of the slide plate.

    • An electrical connection assembly includes a connector having a first portion defining a first row of contact receiving channels receiving and retaining first contacts therein and a second portion defining second and third rows of contact receiving channels receiving and retaining second and third contacts therein. Each contact has a soldering section extending beyond the connector. A first flexible circuit board and a second flexible circuit board are connected to the connector. The soldering sections of the first contacts are soldered to the first flexible circuit board by means of either through hole or surface mounting techniques. The soldering sections of the second and third contacts are respectively soldered to the second flexible circuit board by means of through hole and surface mounting techniques.

    • An electrical connector for use with a circuit board mainly comprises an insulative housing having a bottom wall which integrally defines therein a receiving portion consisting of a first cavity and a second cavity. A board locking means received within the receiving portion of the housing, includes a base which is integrally formed with a plurality of first attachment portions for retaining the base in the second cavity in a basic status. A pair of retention portions extend downward from the base for elastically latching with the circuit board. A pair of spaced extensive arms each extending downward from the base, integrally form thereon a second attachment portion for retention within the first cavity thereby orienting and retaining the board locking means in the receiving portion of the housing in an enhancement status. A second space further separates the extensive arms from the retention portions thereby reducing a mutual effect in the spatial relationship therebetween.
