    • An apparatus for transferring successively arriving piece goods, especially printed products, from a first individual conveyor to a second individual conveyor, each of the individual conveyors being provided with tandemly arranged, controlled grippers each of which serve to grip one of the piece goods. Between both of the individual conveyors there is arranged a third revolving individual conveyor equipped with controlled entrainment members. Each of the entrainment members serving to seize or engage one of the piece goods. The conveying-active run of the third individual conveyor can be introduced at its end regions into the conveying paths of the first and second individual conveyors. A drive which is controlled by the first and/or the second individual conveyor is provided for the third individual conveyor. The entrainment members, at the overlapping zones of the end regions of the conveying-active run of the third individual conveyor, are controlled to work in opposed relation to the grippers of the first individual conveyor and the grippers of the second individual conveyor.

    • Flat objects (10) are packaged with a packaging material (1) that is supplied as a quasi-endless web. The packaging material (1) is gripped at one of its surfaces by gripping elements (6), which are spaced from on another. During conveyance of the packaging material (1) by the gripping elements (6), the distances between the gripping elements (6) are reduced and the packaging material (1) is made to buckle between the gripping elements to one side, forming a string of bags (1′). During further conveyance these bags (1′) are charged with the flat objects (10), are severed from the string of bags, and are sealed. The packaging material, which is supplied, with its width aligned essentially horizontally, is gripped from above by the gripping elements (6) and therefore buckles downwards by gravity, and the bags are charged from above. The formation of the string of bags is very simple, and for adjusting the bag depth the only measure needed is a corresponding adjustment of the original distance between the gripping elements (6).

    • The processing system serves for processing piece goods (e.g. containers or printed products). It comprises a conveying system with a closed rail track system optionally having switch points (SV, SZ) and a plurality of conveying/holding means displaceable in one direction on the track system independently of one another and it further comprises devices (A) for loading conveying/holding means with items or groups of items to be processed, devices (V) for processing items or groups of items and devices (B) for unloading items or groups of items from conveying/holding means. An entry control means and upstream thereof a collecting section are allocated to each device (A, B, V). The entry control establishes the spatial orientation and the temporal sequence of the conveying/holding means or of the items as required by the device. If necessary, the conveying/holding means are retained along the collecting section before the entry monitoring.
