    • A network running SNMPv3 includes conventional managed devices and a control provided with timed updating of the authentication and privacy password set. The timed updating function maintains memorized current and new password sets for each managed device. From time to time, a new set of passwords is automatically generated. A “change password” message including the new passwords is sent to the managed devices encoded with the current passwords. If the current passwords are authenticated by the managed device(s), the new passwords are adopted by the managed devices as current passwords, and an acknowledgement is sent to the control encoded with the new passwords. The control responds by updating its stored current passwords to the new passwords for each individual managed device. When a user wants information, the control encodes the request message with the current passwords, and the managed device responds with the information when the current passwords are verified.

A preset number of objects are counted and stored in dedicated primary chambers. Furthermore, an overflow chamber is provided for temporarily storing and then dispensing tablets which are fed to the primary chamber after the primary chambers are filled with their respective number of tablets. In addition, a direct feed channel is provided for dispensing individually counted tablets. The chambers and direct feed channel can together dispense the selected number. It is also preferable that the chambers have subchambers, and that more than one subchamber be capable of being emptied during a single dispensing operation.

    • A discrete object dispensing system and method dispenses any selected number of objects, up to a maximum number, without a delay associated with counting the tablets. A preset number of objects are counted and stored in dedicated chambers, the combination of the numbers of objects within the chambers being known to comprise any number of objects which is desired for dispensing. According to a preferred system, n chambers are provided, with 20, 21, 22, . . . , 2n−1 tablets provided respectively in the individual chambers. The chambers which together add up to the selected number for dispensing are emptied. Only those chambers which are emptied after dispensing need to be refilled and, as such, only the number of tablets in those storage locations need to be counted. The system may include a plurality of cells, each including a plurality of chambers for a different solid dose medication.

    • A hard disk drive includes a chassis which supports a “sealed” housing containing a data storage magnetic disk, and read/write heads and actuator. The housing also contains an erasure device which generates a magnetic or other field or emanation for erasing the disk, so that the erasing field or emanation need not penetrate the sealed housing to effectuate erasure. A backup power supply provides power to the erasing device so that erasure can occur even in the absence of external power. A bus- or network-actuated arrangement couples power to the erasure device so that many hard drives may be simultaneously erased.

    • The muscle exerciser and toner device with microprocessor controlled multiple workouts, produces specially timed vibrations to exercise muscles and burn body fat without a need to perform an actual physical exercise. The device can be attached to different parts of the human body and thru vibrations make the muscles contract and extend. This is equivalent to a process of a genuine exercise session. A motor generates vibration with an eccentric weight mounted on a shaft. The motor is controlled by a microprocessor, which runs a specifically timed workout program consisting of exercise and rest cycles. After the workout is over the device shuts off automatically. The device operation is simple and requires pressing one button. The timing of the workout program is similar to that of a real exercise session, thus enabling the device to emulate a genuine physical workout. Several devices can be placed on various muscles simultaneously.
