The bulk supply hopper, using a conveyor belt as the bulk supply hopper impelling means, significantly reduces radiated noise. Additionally, the bulk supply hopper including opposed, substantially upright side walls, enhances the effectiveness of the conveyor belt.

    • A device for discharging rod-like products each having one end that is large sized. The device includes a hopper having an opening in its bottom surface, a drive mechanism for oscillating the hopper, and a bottom cover for closing the opening of the hopper. An upper surface of the bottom cover is shaped such that the cover closes the opening of the hopper so that the products do not drop from the opening. The bottom cover has a slit opened in the upper surface thereof, and the slit extends in a direction perpendicular to a direction of the oscillating motion. The slit has a width that allows all but a maximum size portion of the rod-like products to pass therethrough. The drive mechanism oscillates the hopper so that the rod-like products received in the hopper are guided to the slit of the bottom cover, arranged in the slit in order, and subsequently discharged from the slit.

    • An apparatus and method is provided for feeding bulk metal objects from a hopper supported by a frame. The hopper includes side panels that taper downwardly to form an interior chamber therebetween with upper and lower openings. Doors are hingedly attached to the side panels adjacent the lower opening and are opened and closed by piston and cylinder combinations pivotally attached to the frame and pivotally attached to members extending downwardly from the doors. Arms extend from the doors into the interior chamber to facilitate the movement of the metal objects in the hopper toward the lower opening to feed through the doors. Vibrations created by various movements of the doors also help move the metal objects toward the lower opening.

    • A feeder for electronic chip components is provided having an aligning path forming member agitating electronic chip components which are to be discharged from a discharge opening of a hopper for accommodating a plurality of electronic chip components. The agitation is achieved by reciprocating the aligning path forming member in the axis direction of the discharge opening and forming a tubular aligning path which receives only the electronic chip components aligned in a predetermined direction therein. When the aligning path forming member reciprocates it also rotates around its axis. This results in an increased agitating effect on electronic chip components for guiding them into the aligning path.

    • When a component support member is moved forward with respect to a component feeder, the component feeder is vibrated, and the components are discharged from the component feeder on a component support surface and are supported in a dispersed state.
