摘要： A filter system for dishwasher with a sump having inlets leading to a wash pump and a drain pump in the bottom wall. The filter assembly includes a vertical filter retainer an overlying perforate hood, a multiple porosity filter element carried on the filter retainer and a back wash sprayer rotatably mounted inside the filter retainer with at least one backwash nozzle directed toward the filter assembly. The inlet leading to the wash pump is positioned inside the filter element and the inlet to the drain pump is located outside the filter element. The filter element has openings that vary in size from the top to the bottom of the filter element. The filter element openings can be arranged in bands of different porosity openings including fine, medium and coarse porosity openings. The perforate hood can have coarse porosity openings.

摘要： An automatic dishwasher having a wash chamber is provided with a filter for filtering wash liquid circulated in the wash chamber. The filter includes a filter chamber outside the wash chamber. An inlet to and outlet from the filter chamber in a wall of the wash chamber allows wash liquid circulating in the wash chamber to enter the filter chamber and to flow out of the filter chamber through a filter element back into the wash chamber for filtering particulate material from wash liquid circulating in the wash chamber. A drain outlet at the bottom of the filter chamber allows wash liquid and material filtered by the filter to flow to the household drain. Sensors can be provided to detect a clogged or partially clogged filter and initiate a purge cycle to remove wash liquid and material filtered by the filter to the household drain.

The hinge structure includes a slide bar which is selectively positionable as a result of the opening of the door from either side of the cabinet to a thrown position. The structure includes locking elements for retaining the slide bar in the thrown position as long as the door remains pivoted open, thereby preventing the pivoting hinge structure from being removed from the cabinet. A second safety lock is provided for effectively positively preventing withdrawal of the pivoting hinge pin from the pivot slot while the door remains open from the opposite side of the cabinet. In one form, the structure for retaining the slide bar in the thrown position includes a pivotal member, and in another embodiment, the retaining structure is defined by a closely coiled spring.

摘要： A wash additive dispensing system and method for an automatic washer having a wash additive dispenser disposed on the upper portion of an agitator rotatably mounted within a wash basket. The wash additive dispenser comprises a receiving cup capable of receiving a wash additive and a dispensing cup secured to receive wash additive from the receiving cup. A cover member is disposed above the receiving cup and includes a funnel portion extending down into the receiving cup. During a fill cycle operation, a portion of wash liquid flowing into the wash basket through a water inlet device is channeled into a wash liquid supply conduit secured to the underside of a washer lid disposed above the wash basket. The supply conduit has a drain port positioned above the funnel portion of the cover member such that wash liquid continuously drains into the receiving cup through the funnel portion during the fill cycle. The dispenser also includes an overflow tube for channeling excess wash liquid added to the receiving cup into the dispensing cup. Prior to an agitation cycle, therefore, the receiving cup receives wash additive and wash liquid. During the agitation cycle the wash liquid and the wash additive disposed within the receiving cup thoroughly mix to form a diluted wash additive. The dispenser then drains the diluted wash additive into the wash tub subsequent to a high speed spin extraction cycle.

A portion of the dishwashing liquid being circulated during the dishwashing operation is directed against a housing wall portion of the soil separator to spin the separator at high speed. The separator defines a soil collecting portion to which soil pumped through the separator is directed so as to be separated from the dishwashing liquid. Pumping of the liquid through the separator is a function of the rotation of the separator. Washing liquid may be directed reversely through the separator upon completion of the washing cycle for washing out the collected soil from the separator and permitting it to be disposed of through the normal drain structure of the dishwasher. The separator may be rotated during the washing-out operation for improved automatic cleaning thereof.
