    • This invention includes a combustion engine fuel level indication system operable at 10 mA or lower and without any contact resistance buildup. The present system utilizes a noble metal ink formulation for both contacts of resistive path and a conductive path. The resistive and conductive paths each having angled conductor lines which reduce the overall volume requirement for the noble metal ink composition used to make the paths. The invention also includes a wiper contact having spaced apart parallel tangs or fingers positioned so that a first finger engages a first conductor line along the conductive path and a second finger engages an adjacent conductor line along the conductive path to improve the make brake contact.

    • A fuel supply apparatus for a motor vehicle including a plastic canister, three evenly-spaced tubular struts on the canister, a plastic cover, a regulator pod on the plastic cover, and a pair of sockets on the cover and a socket on the regulator pod defining three evenly-spaced sockets on the cover adapted for plug-in reception of the tubular struts. The canister is inserted into a fuel tank of the motor vehicle through an access port. The cover closes the access port. A fuel pump in the canister delivers fuel to a high pressure conduit outside of the fuel tank through a high pressure fluid connector on the cover. A branch from the high pressure conduit is connected to a return fluid connector on the cover. The regulator pod has a return passage from the return fluid connector to the aforesaid socket on the regulator pod. A modular pressure regulator selectively unblocks the passage in the regulator pod to regulate fluid pressure in the high pressure supply side by recirculating a fraction of the fuel in the high pressure conduit back to the canister through the one of the tubular guides plugged into the socket in the regulator pod.

    • Fuel sender at a remote or terminal end of a suction circuit of a fuel system of a motor vehicle. The fuel sender includes an unsealed reservoir in a fuel tank of the vehicle replenished by return fuel from a return fuel circuit of the fuel system and a junction chamber in the reservoir communicating with the terminal end of the suction circuit and with each of a primary flow channel and a secondary flow channel. The primary flow channel terminates at a primary screen in the fuel tank outside the reservoir. The secondary flow channel terminates at a secondary screen inside the reservoir. The secondary flow channel is restricted relative to the primary flow channel so that vacuum in the suction circuit induces flow in the primary flow channel in preference to flow in the secondary channel. Under low fuel conditions, the primary flow channel is blocked and vacuum in the suction circuit induces flow in the secondary flow channel from the reservoir. The secondary screen is flexible and actuates a differential pressure responsive bypass valve to connect the secondary flow channel directly to the reservoir when both the primary and the secondary screens are blocked.

    • A grounded wiper assembly for a fuel sensor includes a wiper housing for rotation relative to a variable resistor and a wiper with at least one contact operatively supported by the wiper housing for contacting the variable resistor as the wiper housing rotates. The grounded wiper assembly includes a float arm connected to the wiper housing and a float connected to the float arm such that the float moves the float arm and the wiper housing relative to the variable resistor as a level of fuel increases and decreases in the fuel tank. The grounded wiper assembly further includes a conductor interconnecting the float arm and the wiper to bleed off electrical charges attached to fuel to ground.
