    • A caliper brake apparatus according to this invention includes: a caliper main body supported on a vehicle body; a brake block that is capable of advancing and retreating relative to the caliper main body and sliding against the disc so as to apply a frictional force to the disc; a pressing mechanism that presses the brake block against the disc using a pressure of a working fluid; and an adjuster that supports the brake block on the caliper main body. The adjuster includes: an anchor pin that is provided to be capable of advancing and retreating relative to the caliper main body and supports the brake block on the caliper main body; a return spring that biases the brake block in a direction heading away from the disc; and a back pressure chamber defined on a back surface of the anchor pin, into which the working fluid is led.

    • A caliper brake device includes a brake shoe for exerting a friction force by sliding in contact with a disk, a caliper main body fixed to a vehicle and an actuator for pressing the brake shoe against the disk. The actuator includes an elastic film fixed to the caliper main body, a drive pressure chamber defined by the elastic film and supplied with a fluid, a valve introducing the fluid to the drive pressure chamber, and a piston interposed between the elastic film and the brake shoe. The fluid is supplied to the drive pressure chamber and the elastic film swells toward the brake shoe, whereby the piston brings the brake shoe into sliding contact with the disk. The valve introduces the fluid to the drive pressure chamber when the brake is applied while limiting the discharge of the fluid from the drive pressure chamber when the brake is released.

    • A brake caliper (10) includes a pair of caliper arms (12) that oppose frictional surfaces (6) formed on respective side faces of a vehicle wheel (5). The caliper arm (12) applies a brake to the vehicle wheel (5) by pressing a brake pad (7) against the frictional surface (6). A pressure chamber (63) delimited by a diaphragm (75) is formed in the caliper arm (12). A plurality of pistons (55) which drive the brake pad (7) in accordance with expansion of the diaphragm (75) corresponding to a supply of compressed air to the pressure chamber (63), and a guide member (65) that guides displacement of the plurality of pistons (55) in a right-angle direction relative to the frictional surface (6) are provided, and therefore the movable brake pad (7) applies an even braking force to the vehicle wheel (5).
