    • A metal laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having a hole near an outer profile. The hole has a width along the outer profile, and the width of the hole is greater than a distance between the hole and the outer profile. The gasket is formed of a plurality of metal plates to constitute a metal laminate gasket. Each metal plate includes a side edge extending at least along the outer profile of the engine, a gasket hole having a size substantially equal to that of the hole of the engine, and an elongated portion located between the side edge and the gasket hole. The metal plates are immovably fixed together at the elongated portions to prevent the elongated portions from deforming outwardly of the engine.

    • A metal laminate gasket of the invention is installed in an internal combustion engine having at least one hole therein. The gasket comprises a first metal plate, and a second metal plate situated under the first metal plate. The first plate includes a first sealing device around a first hole to be sealed, and an inclined portion between the first sealing device and a base portion of the first plate. The upper surface of the base section is located in a level lower than the upper surface of the first sealing device. The second plate has a second hole larger than the first sealing device, and a second sealing device around the second hole. When the first and second plates are assembled, the second plate does not pile over the first sealing device. When the gasket is tightened, the second sealing device is at first compressed by tightening force and deforming force of the inclined portion to thereby equally tighten the second sealing device.

The gasket comprises a first plate having at least one first sealing area around a cylinder bore and at least one second sealing area adjacent the first sealing area, on which a mouth plate for defining the auxiliary combustion chamber is placed, and at least one second plate situated adjacent to the first plate. The first plate is provided with a plurality of curved beads disposed at a predetermined distance away from each other and situated inside and outside the second sealing area. The beads are formed so that a recovery amount of the bead when pressurized decreases gradually from an inner bead to an outer bead.

    • A metal gasket for providing a seal between a cylinder head and a cylinder block of an engine is a laminate of a first metal plate, a second metal plate, and a third metal plate. The first metal plate has a folded portion for positioning around a cylinder bore, the second metal plate has a first full bead inside the folded portion to provide a primary sealing portion, and the third metal plate has a second full bead provided around an outer circumference of the first full bead to provide a secondary sealing portion. The primary sealing portion has a primary sealing surface pressure, and the secondary sealing portion has a secondary sealing surface pressure less than the primary sealing surface pressure. The secondary sealing portion provides enhanced following capability during engine operation.

    • A nonfreezing liquid is hermetically enclosed in one or more brine bags of a flexible plastic material. In the case using an existing refrigerator equipped with a freezer compartment, the brine bags are placed in a brine bag receiving vessel adapted to be located in the freezer compartment, and a cooling plate is provided at a location at the uppermost one of the brine bags. In freezing, food to be frozen is inserted between the cooling plate and the brine bags or between the brine bags so that at least the greater part of outer peripheries of the food is surrounded by a low temperature environment to substantially the same extent as immersion of the food in the nonfreezing liquid, thereby substantially realizing the liquid surface contact freezing. In the case of a newly fabricated refrigerator, the brine bags are directly placed in an exclusive freezer compartment and further cold air is forced against the cooling plate, thereby obtaining more complete frozen food. In this manner, according to the invention frozen food of high quality can be obtained for a very short period of time.
