    • A motor has a field body having a number of field poles and an armature body having a number of coils which is placed outside of the above described field body in the radial direction. A commutator secured to the armature body has a number of segments to which the coils are respectively connected. The motor has a power supplying part for supplying a current to the coils and a brush holder which is secured to the field body. The brush holder contains an anode side brush device which makes contact with and slides against the commutator and the power supplying part and a cathode side brush device which makes contact with and slides against the commutator and the power supplying part. Accordingly, the efficiency of use of the coils can be increased.

    • An armature for a motor has a core, which comprises a plurality of core sheets stacked together in an axial direction. Each sheet has a plurality of teeth having an extended protrusion which covers an armature winding fitted in slots. The extended protrusion may be a pair of bendable long protrusion pieces on each tooth of one sheet, and a pair of bendable short protrusion pieces on each tooth of another sheet stacked adjacently to the one sheet. Alternatively, the extended protrusion may be a pair of long protrusion piece and short protrusion piece on each tooth. The protrusion pieces are bent to cover the armature winding after winding operation, leaving only a narrow slit between the two extended protrusions. The slit is discontinuous in an axial direction of the core. Thus, the armature winding is restricted from slipping out from the slots, and cogging in torque of the motor is reduced.

    • A door member locking/unlocking apparatus comprises a motor for driving an output shaft rotationally, and a latch rotatably hinged in a position to engage with a striker for retaining a door member in a closed state and urged in a direction to disengage from the striker. A first ratchet regulates the latch in a partially latched position and in a fully latched position. A second ratchet turns the latch from the partially latched position to the fully latched position. An engaging pin provided on the first ratchet releases the retention of the latch in the fully latched position by the first ratchet. A cam is arranged to have an axis of rotation in parallel with that of the latch. The cam is rotationally driven by the motor for actuating the second ratchet and the engaging pin.
