    • A process for treating an organohalogen compound-containing soil or ash of the present invention, comprises: mixing the organohalogen compound-containing soil or ash with an organohalogen compound-decomposition catalyst composed of a composite catalyst comprising an amine compound and iron compound particles, and having an average particle size of 0.01 to 2.0 &mgr;m, a phosphorus content of not more than 0.02% by weight, a sulfur content of not more than 0.3% by weight and a sodium content of not more than 0.3% by weight; and having an apparent density (&rgr;a) of not more than 0.8 g/ml and a catalytic activity capable of decomposing not less than 50% by weight of monochlorobenzene; and heat-treating the obtained mixture at a temperature of 150 to 600° C. The method for treating an organohalogen compound-containing soil or ash in order to effectively decompose dioxins and dioxin precursors such as aromatic organohalogen compounds or aliphatic organohalogen compounds, e.g., trichloroethylene and dichloromethane, which are contained in the soil or ash.

    • The present invention relates to a magnetic particle-containing water dispersion wherein the magnetic particles have a primary particle diameter of 5 to 15 nm and an average secondary particle diameter of 10 to 60 nm, and the water dispersion has a zeta potential of not more than −20 mV when a pH value of the water dispersion lies within the range of 6 to 8, and further a surface of the respective magnetic particles is coated with a carboxyl group-containing polymer. The magnetic particle-containing water dispersion is produced by heating an aqueous solution in which the carboxyl group-containing polymer is dissolved, to a temperature of 90 to 100° C. in a nitrogen atmosphere; adding a solution of a ferrous (II) salt and a ferric (III) salt and an alkali solution to the aqueous solution to react with each other at the same temperature; adding ethanol to the solution to obtain a precipitate; and removing a supernatant liquid from the solution, and then dispersing the precipitate in water and subjecting the resulting dispersion to dialysis. The magnetic particle-containing water dispersion is useful as a magnetic particle-containing water dispersion capable of producing magnetic particle-containing drugs for diagnosis and therapies which can exhibit a uniform functionality, with a good reproducibility.

    • Disclosed is a paving resin composition which comprises a thermoplastic resin in small lumps, containing 30 to 70% by weight of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 20 to 45% by weight and a melting temperature of 40 to 100° C. The paving resin composition of the present invention is melted within a short time, excellent in wettability and adhesion property to aggregates, and capable of providing a paved face excellent in durability free from problems of deformation during summer and cracking during winter. Moreover, the paving resin composition of the present invention can be thrown directly to a mixer without being passed through a measurement apparatus and accordingly, washing work of the measurement apparatus or pipes is made unnecessary and the workability is thus significantly increased.
