    • An air conditioning system for a vehicle including a first drive source, includes a compressor. The compressor includes a second drive source, and the compressor is driven by the first drive source or the second drive source, or a combination thereof. Moreover, the second drive source includes an electrical power supply. The air conditioning system also includes a controller for selecting the first drive source or the second drive source, or both, for driving the compressor. The controller also controls a rotational speed of the second drive source. Moreover, the air conditioning system also includes a voltmeter or an amp meter for detecting an amount of electrical power consumed by the second drive source. Specifically, when a predetermined condition is satisfied and an amount of electrical power consumed by the second drive source is greater than a first limit for the amount of electrical power which the second drive source may consume, the first limit increases to a second limit.

    • An air conditioner for a vehicle uses a hybrid compressor (4) including a first compression mechanism driven by a first drive source (2) and a second compression mechanism driven by a second drive source (5), and a single discharge port connected to the first and the second compression mechanisms. The operation of the hybrid compressor is controlled by a controller (15) in accordance with a control mode. The controller has a first operation mode in which the first compression mechanism alone is driven, a second operation mode in which the second compression mechanism alone is driven, a third operation mode in which the first and the second compression mechanisms are simultaneously driven, and a fourth operation mode in which the first and the second compression mechanisms are simultaneously stopped.     • An air conditioning system for vehicles includes a compressor and a variable displacement compressor provided in a refrigeration cycle, means for operating the variable displacement compressor, compressor operation switching means for switching the compressor operation between the compressor and the variable displacement compressor, and variable displacement compressor feedforward displacement value calculation means for calculating a displacement control value of the variable displacement compressor as an input to the refrigeration cycle so as to obtain a target control displacement after the compressor operation is switched. After the operation is switched from the compressor to the variable displacement compressor, the variable displacement compressor is started based on the calculated variable displacement compressor feedforward displacement value. When the flow rate of refrigerant varies greatly upon operation switching between the compressor and the variable displacement compressor, it is possible to suppress deterioration of the comfortable feeling of passengers.

The system further includes a device for determining a condition in which the acceleration state is detected or a condition in which the engine rotational speed equals or is greater than a set value as an elevated compressor load condition, and during the elevated compressor load condition, controlling the discharge amount of the compressor, so that the pressure difference (Pd-Ps) equals or is less than a pressure difference (Pd-Ps) immediately before elevated the compressor load condition. Both superior acceleration performance of a vehicle and driver comfort due to air conditioning may be achieved.
