    • In a diesel engine controlling system having a fuel injection pump, a fuel injection timing adjusting device is controlled by a drive pulse signal whose duty cycle is controlled by a microcomputer. The duty cycle is determined such that a basic duty cycle obtained by using engine rotational speed and injection quantity, is modified or corrected by way of a correction factor and a forecast correction factor. The-first mentioned correction factor comprises an integration component and a proportional component both derived from the difference between a measured fuel injection or ignition timing and a desired or reference fuel injection or ignition timing, which is calculated by using the engine rotational speed and the injection quantity. The forecast correction factor corresponds to a differential value of the basic duty cycle or the desired fuel injection or ignition timing. In order to detect the fuel injection or ignition timing a timing detector is employed, where the state of an output signal from the detector is monitored to prohibit calculation of the difference or error, thereby correcting the basic duty cycle by only the forecast correction factor when the detector is in abnormal condition.

    • An apparatus for controlling the timing of fuel injection into a diesel engine, including means for computing a target time at which injection should occur and means for sensing when injection actually occurs, with respect to a reference crankshaft position, feedback control means for adjusting the actual injection time to bring this into coincidence with the target injection time, means for sensing when firing of fuel within an engine cylinder actually occurs and for computing a target firing time based on the current operating status of the engine. A compensation factor is computed based on the difference between the actual and target firing times, and is utilized to modify the actual fuel injection time such as to bring the actual and target firing times into coincidence. Means are included for judging whether the engine operating status will permit reliable firing time data to be acquired, and for selectively enabling and inhibiting computation of successive new values of compensation factor based on this judgement.

    • A tape like material including synthetic resin for a filter element is bent into a corrugated pattern while the material is passed between pairs of forming and cutting rollers. Since pairs of cutters are provided within the rollers and since guide plates are provided around the rollers, the material is held abutting the rollers even when the material is cut by the cutters. The material is then conveyed within a reducing drum. The pitch of the corrugated portions formed on the material is reduced and the material is formed into a semicircular shape within the reducing drum. After passed the reducing drum, the material is transferred to a forming path. Since the forming path has an introducing portion having a semicircular sectional shape similar to that of the material leaving the reducing drum, an outlet portion having a circular sectional shape similar to that of the finished filter element and an intermediate portion having a sectional shape gradually varied from the shape of the introducing portion to the shape of the outlet portion, the material is shaped to a complete circle while the material travels along the forming path. A crystal type filter element is thus formed from a tape like material automatically.

    • A camera for shooting a movie picture and a still picture has a casing in which a pair of imaging optical systems for shooting a still picture and a movie picture, respectively are opened in a front surface of the casing.     • A distributor type fuel-injection pump according to the present invention is provided with a rotor which is rotated by an engine. The rotor has a pair of plungers slidable in the radial direction of the rotor, and a fuel pumping chamber is defined between the plungers. The rotor is surrounded by a cam ring which reciprocates the plungers as the rotor rotates, thereby sucking fuel into the fuel pumping chamber and pressurizing the fuel therein. The fuel pressurized in the fuel pumping chamber is distributed to individual cylinders of the engine. A plurality of spill holes are formed in the rotor, communicating with the fuel pumping chamber and opening to the outer peripheral surface of the rotor. A control sleeve to open and close the spill holes is axially slidably fitted on the rotor. First and second spill grooves capable of communicating with the spill holes are formed on the inner peripheral surface of the control sleeve. The first and second spill grooves open or close the spill holes to define the timing for the start of fuel delivery in the fuel pumping chamber and the timing for the end of fuel delivery, thereby determining the amount of fuel delivery.
