    • A two-dimensional solid-state image sensor device comprising a plurality of picture cells two-dimensionally arranged in column and row directions. Each cell has a static induction transistor having drain and source regions disposed on opposite sides of a high resistance semiconductor channel region, and a gate region adjacent to the channel region to control a current flowing between the drain and source regions, and a transparent electrode disposed via a capacitance on at least a portion of the gate region, in a manner that light is incident through the transparent electrode to the gate region in which the charge produced by the light excitation is stored to control the current. Selection lines connected to the gate regions in each column in common via the capacitances are sequentially selected. A readout pulse voltage is applied to the selected selection line during one horizontal scanning period and a refresh pulse voltage larger than the readout pulse voltage is applied to the selected selection line during one horizontal blanking period subsequent to the horizontal scanning period. Each picture cell is selected in the column and row directions so that a signal is read out therefrom.

    • A memory cartridge having a semiconductor memory for storing digital image data is provided with a D/A converter for converting digital image data read out of the memory into an analog video signal, and a display device for displaying an image represented by this video signal provided in a first embodiment of the present invention. In another embodiment, a memory cartridge having a semiconductor image memory for storing a plurality of frames of digital image data is provided with an image display device and a frame feed switch. Predetermined image data is read out of the image memory and the image represented by the data is displayed on the display device. Displayed images are shifted sequentially in response to imputs from the frame feed switch. Also disclosed is a digital still video camera which includes a memory cartridge having the display device that may be loaded. The camera has an opening which allows an image displayed on the display device to be seen from the outside when the cartridge is loaded in the camera. If the camera is arranged so that a picture just imaged by the camera is displayed on the display device, the user can check whether the desired picture has been properly taken. This arrangement also allows the display device to be utilized as a viewfinder.

    • A camera for shooting a movie picture and a still picture has a casing in which a pair of imaging optical systems for shooting a still picture and a movie picture, respectively are opened in a front surface of the casing. A functional section for shooting a still picture is disposed in the proximity of the imaging optical system for shooting a still picture, circuits and mechanisms necessary to shoot a movie picture are located in the rear side of the imaging optical system for shooting a movie picture, and a video tape recording mechanism and circuits related thereto are arranged at the back of the functional section for shooting a still picture. Consequently, a movie picture and a still picture can be shot at the same time. Since a film can be loaded in and removed from the camera through the upper surface of the casing, a statisfactory operability is attained. Furthermore, the casing is provided with a cap covering the upper surface of the casing and hence the casing has an improved strength and effectively prevents water and dust.

    • A multicolor solid image pickup element base plate having bonding pat portions is produced by an on-wafer method utilizing a silver halide photographic emulsion. A solvent permeation preventing layer is formed on a solid image pickup element base plate having an array of a number of image elements. A silver halide emulsion layer is formed on that layer. A micro color filter composed of two or more color separation filter elements is then formed on the emulsion layer. The filter is formed by repeatedly applying a pattern exposure and color development onto the emulsion layer. A protective layer is formed over the entire surface of the base plate. The protective layer, silver halide emulsion layer, and solvent permeation preventing layer are then successively removed. Blackened silver portions may be formed in the emulsion layer at portions corresponding to bonding pat portions prior to the formation of the protective layer by applying thereto a pattern exposure followed by black and white development.
