    • An information signal area on an information signal recording surface is provided as pits on a mirror in accordance with modulated information data, and is covered with a metal alloy reflective film. Sections that do not include pits corresponding to the information data are provided in the information signal area, and portions of the metal alloy reflective film on the sections are formed as perforated marks corresponding to the information data. In this case, the reproduction signal amplification level of a prepit signal and the reproduction signal amplitude level of a perforated mark signal can be obtained as substantially equal values by adjusting the depth and width of pits and/or adjusting the width and length of perforated marks. Hence, waveform distortion due to a waveform equalization circuit and variations in binary signals due to displacement of the slice level are reduced so that signals can be stably and reliably detected with the same reading apparatus.

    • In an apparatus for reproducing digitized signals recorded in successive, substantially circular tracks on a rotated disc by means of a pickup of the optical type which, in a normal scanning state, scans the tracks in succession; a first or prepare-to-play command signal causes the pickup to reproduce the digitized signals for a predetermined interval corresponding to more than one of the tracks on the disc starting from a desired position on such one track and the digitized signals reproduced in that predetermined interval are stored, desirably in a random access memory (RAM), whereupon a standby state of the pickup is established in which the pickup traces a closed loop on the rotated disc within a range corresponding to the previously mentioned predetermined interval. Upon reception of a second or play command signal, the pickup is released from its standby state at the completion of the tracing of the closed loop during which the play command signal occurred and the normal scanning state of the pickup is reestablished. Further, in response to the second or play command signal, the stored digitized signals are read out from the RAM and transmitted, starting with the signals corresponding to the desired position irrespective of the rotational position of the disc at the time of the play command signal, and the digitized signals reproduced by the pickup on the reestablishment of its normal scanning state and, more particularly, commencing with the digitized signals following the predetermined interval, are sequentially stored in the RAM and then sequentially read out and transmitted therefrom.

    • This invention relates to azimuth adjustment means for a magnetic head and, more particularly, to azimuth adjustment means for a magnetic head adapted to precisely adjust the azimuth of the magnetic head by remote control. The head azimuth adjustment means comprises an azimuth adjustment screw having its end acting on a head base on which a magnetic head is mounted and rotatable so that the head base is positioned so as to have the proper azimuthal position of the magnetic head. The head azimuth adjustment means further comprises an adjustment member interposed between the end of the azimuth adjustment screw and the head base and slidably movable in its longitudinal direction, the adjustment member having an inclined surface provided thereon in a direction of its slidable movement. If the slidable adjustment member is slidably moved in one direction, then the magnetic head is adjusted in its azimuthal position in one direction, and if the adjustment member is slidably moved in another direction, then the magnetic head is adjusted in its azimuthal position in another direction. Thus, the magnetic head is accurately aligned in its azimuthal position by properly moving the slidable adjustment member.

    • This invention relates to a pad abutting device for a magnetic head of a dual capstan type cassette tape recorder. This pad abutting device comprises a pair of upper and lower abutting members mounted on a front face of a magnetic head which is to be extended through an opening of a cassette having a pad provided therein, the abutting members being disposed apart by a distance less than the width of the pad, but greater than the width of a magnetic tape in the cassette. When the cassette is placed in the tape recorder so that the magnetic head enters the opening of the cassette, the abutting members abut against the pad at its upper and lower edges whereby the pad is prevented from resiliently pressing the magnetic tape against the magnetic head. Each of the pad abutting members comprises a spacer provided integrally with the body of the respective pad abutting member, disposed between the body of the pad abutting member and the front face of the magnetic head so as to abut against the latter, the spacers of the abutting members having a thickness greater than that of the magnetic tape, respectively and being disposed apart by a distance substantially greater than the space between the upper and lower abutting members.

    • This invention relates to a mode changing system for a cassette tape recorder in which operating members such as a head base plate and a pinch roller are selectively moved to one of various modes such as stopping, fast forwarding, rewinding, pausing, cueing and playing. This system comprises control means to control the movable components so as to move them to a position corresponding to a selected one of the modes. The control means is actuated by a control electric motor. The system further comprises a mode selective switch group to select one of the modes, a reference signal generating circuit to generate a reference signal corresponding to the selected one of the modes in accordance with the selection of the modes by means of the mode selective switch group, a variable signal generating circuit to generate a variable signal which continuously varies with the rotation of the control electric motor and an operational circuit to receive both of the reference and variable signals so as to rotate the control electric motor for moving the movable components toward the position corresponding to the selected mode.
