摘要： When a memory in cassette (MIC) in a loaded tape cassette can successfully be accessed, an MIC type stored in the MIC is detected to judge a data format the tape cassette has. To this end, the tape cassette is adapted such that the data format or the loaded tape cassette can be identified without detecting an identification hole formed in the tape cassette. Thus, it is possible to easily accommodate any future extension of the data format.

摘要： A magnetic tape cartridge includes a cartridge case, a pair of cylindrical hubs rotatably provided in the cartridge case, and a magnetic tape laid between the hubs and wound around outer peripheries of the hubs. Each of the hubs has an inner diameter portion provided with a height-position determining member. The height-position determining member determines a height position of the hub in the magnetic tape cartridge by contacting a driving shaft inserted in the hub when the magnetic tape cartridge is mounted in a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus.

摘要： There is provided a recording and/or reproducing apparatus including: a cartridge loading member into which is loaded a tape cartridge having a magnetic tape provided with a leader block on one end; a take-up mechanism for winding the magnetic tape; a carrying mechanism for carrying a tape pulling member, which engages with the leader block and pulls the magnetic tape from the tape cartridge, between the tape cartridge and the take-up mechanism; and a magnetic head mechanism for recording or reproducing signals. An area in which the cartridge loading member is formed, and an area in which the take-up mechanism, the carrying mechanism and the magnetic head mechanism are formed are divided by a partition, and the partition has an opening, and a shutter mechanism for shutting the opening. Thus, a recording and/or reproducing apparatus capable of preventing dust and the like from entering into the drive area is provided.

摘要： A magnet-optical disk drive device comprises a disc driving mechanism which includes a drive shaft powered by an electric motor. A magnet-optical disc is detachably connected to the drive shaft. A magnetic field modulation head is positioned at one side of the disc, and an optical unit is positioned at the other side of the disc. A moving mechanism is employed for moving both the magnetic field modulation head and the optical unit in a radial direction of the disc. The magnetic field modulation head is of a floating type wherein a head proper is forced to float above the surface of the disc due to the force of an air flow which is produced when the disc is rotated.
